BRFCS MotM: David “Junior” Hoilett
And so to the final game of the season, the one that really mattered most — and wow what a first-half performance by Rovers and in particular this week’s BRFCS man of the match, Junior Hoilett.3-0 up at half-time, away from home when the pressure is on, was really something and helped to calm the nerves for the Rovers fans in the stands and at home.
The final instalment of the 2010–11 season saw the man of the match award go to Junior Hoilett. With 104 of the 220 votes cast, he was a clear winner with 47.27% of the vote. He had a hand in the first goal and dazzled the Wolves defence for the third, beating two men before slamming past the keeper, as the young tricky winger continues to progress and impress in Blue n White.
Now Junior has come out and spoken of his happiness at being involved with Rovers and in particular at being given a chance by Steve Kean, the next job is to tie him down to a new deal, which despite doubts expressed on the BRFCS forums he appears happy to do. This is great news for the club.
The second place was a tie between the two other goal scorers: Jason Roberts, who led the line well and got a touch to score the first, and Brett Emerton, who scored a sumptuous volley to make it 2-0. Both players received 24 votes (10.91%). It was a fine team performance and a case of mission accomplished — Rovers did it. And with renewed optimism we can look forward to next season.
