Not sure if this has already been posted but apparently Liverpool fans are now boycotting the Rovers game on 15th April as a protest against the match being played on that day. It seems that they are not happy with the way their club has handled the affair.

What a shame that the Hillsborough situation is going to deprive Rovers of a potentially full house and revenue.

Would I be right in thinking that there are many compensation claims and legal wranglings to be sorted from that tragic day?

I was suggested by a liverpool fan I know well that keeping the issues in the front of the news is doing noting to harm claims.... I have to say whwn I heard that liverpool fans wanted the game moving, that was my first thought.

If Liverpool the club cared that much wouldn't they have a embargo on that day for ever?

I work in Liverpool and a colleague of mine that regularly goes to the Blackburn away game is not going because of the timing.

He was unsure about whether it was Liverpool or Rovers that were to blame and suspected it was Rovers.

I told him that as far as I knew Liverpool requested the fixture be moved back to later in the day and Rovers complied.

Does anyone know if that is the case?

I truly believe that Rovers would agree to an alternative date if it was requested by Liverpool but I'd like to be sure of my facts before telling the whinging scouser to shut up.

Its not our fault whatsoever. Those clows should have sorted it out long ago ie in the first half of the season when they knew they were playing us on that day. There are no real other alternative dates and so when they asked to move the fix back we said yes. Only those moaners are to blame. It doesnt matter if a few boycott anyway, they will still sell out 7k esp at that stage in the season

Who cares about the liverpool fans - we moved it as they requested. Rafa wanted it playing taht day, not Blackburn!

We should let it be kid for a £1 day then. An extra £450k from sky so who cares about a few scousers boycotting the game. Less fans to get behind there team, the better.

In a very miniscule way this boycott is going to be as about as good as those who chose to boycott the Glazer bowl. Sure those who do boycott the game have the best intentions to heart BUT we can't forget that Liverpool is one of the best supported teams in the UK and for that reason when the regulars don't snap up their tickets, Im pretty sure some other scousers will.

This is making a mockery of the memory of those fans.

They died at a football match. It was a terrible tragedy, one that will always be remembered with sadness. But surely those who died would want life to go on? They certainly wouldn't want football matches to be cancelled, particularly at such a late stage when many have made plans to travel some distance for them.

And I'm sorry, why blame Blackburn because the match wasn't cancelled? There has been all season when it was known what day the match was on. Something, somewhere, is not quite right about this.

222 pages of pictures of girls on that web site. Seven pages of posts about remembering Hillsborough and a petition started nine months after the fixture was published.

I suppose with that track record, it is not surprising they have completely mangled the facts of Rovers' attempts to support getting the fixture changed and are blaming our club. Certainly now that Sky are involoved, they can take a running jump if they think Rovers are willing to give up their £160,000 TV fee.

i thought hughsey said it was £450,000 tv fee? £160,000 does sound more realistic.

I know that Rovers agreed instantly to the change of time for the kick-off when requested to do so by Liverpool F.C. Unfortunately I cant remember exactly where I read it, but it was certainly not just on this MB. Could well have been the Rovers official website.

Can anyone else help out?

So Liverpool fans are boycotting the game. Boo Hoo. What a shame.

Heaven sent opportunity to restrict their allocation to one quarter of the Darwen End, reduce prices to a level that competes with watching it in the Pub and start the novel concept of trying to fill the ground with BLACKBURN fans for a big game.

But as someone else said, we probably wouln't be able to see beyond the short term loss of revenue.

No suprise the Scoucers are looking into some emotional attention seeking bs.

Ah well, I always see their 8,000 loud and passionate fans as a 12th man when Liverpool come to Ewood.

A lack of that 12th man does nothing but give Rovers a slight advantage in what will be a monumental game for us.

I'm all up for it.

There is a school of thought that Liverpool monumentally cocked up and did not request the 15th April to be kept free, I clearly have no insider information to confirm that to be the case or otherwise.

What I do know...

Liverpool asked Rovers to move the kick off, we complied and Sky picked up on this and agreed to give us the 5.15 tv slot as well (£160k in the bank thank you very much - the £450k fee is for non ppv matches).

Most sensible Liverpool fans have accepted this as a compromise, their original reason for moving the game was to allow them to attend the memorial and the match, which they now can.

Some of them are being, erm, slightly difficult (was that polite enough).

Bear in mind that I am wholely supportive of their campaign, and anyone who has ever noticed will know I wear one of the HCJ bands on my wrist.

Enough is enough, JG please put your friend right, this is NOT any fault of BRFC.

That'll be £0.00 then.

Ha ha - Oh we have a laugh. Personally I'm all for a kid for a quid every match. There's a top tier on the Darwen End that rarely gets used - get 'em up there. Get them into the habit of going to the Rovers - it's hard to break. Then when they're 16 or 18 or whatever it is - bingo! Massive credit card bills for a season ticket and instant debt to feed their addiction. It's the way forward.

As for Liverpool. Already been discussed. This should have been sorted out months ago. It's their club that have let them down not ours.

Got no reference to quote but I think it is £450K for non-ppv and £320K for ppv.

The two clubs get half each.

Anyway, this boycott thing will fizzle out if Liverpool do the sensible thing and organise coaches to take them from the Anfield service to Ewood. Very least they could do with the extra £160K Liverpool FC are getting.
