Oklahoma
I wonder where they get those stats... Some are correct, others are just laughable. Just for example: 104 - Diego Forlan 107 - Cristiano Ronaldo How is that even possible??!!?!?! Forlan, one of the best strikers in this WC, his national team is in the semis... Ronaldo, one of the biggest disapointments in the WC (in front of the entire french team, at least lol) and Portugal already at home. Only 3 places apart?!?!?! Forlan should be higher and Ronaldo should be lower in that list.

Eddie
That's because Gerrard is world class and Schweinsteiger is overrated. None of you have ever asked me who I work for...
tony gale's mic
That's because Gerrard is world class and Schweinsteiger is overrated. None of you have ever asked me who I work for... I thought you worked in a Parisian bar? Whatever you think of the players' actual abilities is irrelevant in this discussion, this ranking measures how well players have played this tournament. Gus Gus
Whatever you think of the players' actual abilities is irrelevant in this discussion, this ranking measures how well players have played this tournament. I guess you also think that modern financial theory is a resounding success.
Eddie
I thought you worked in a Parisian bar? Whatever you think of the players' actual abilities is irrelevant in this discussion, this ranking measures how well players have played this tournament. 1) It was tongue in cheek. 2) No I don't. grizfoot
Ryan Nelsen at 264 is an outrage, there's no way there was 263 better players than him at the World Cup. He was brilliant against both Italy and Paraguay. Also Glen Johnson is higher ranked than Mezut Ozil.
philipl
That FIFA list is a joke. So are the recorded heights of players at the World Cup!

philipl
Dave, if you look at the heading, you will see it was supposed to be there! suggests the players are cheating in declaring their heights and rounding the numbers up!
jodrell
Philip all your links to the NYP seem to have a problem. I am not sure if you have a subscription or it is something else?
Bobby G
I think it favors defensive players for some reason. Maybe you get more points for interceptions, blocks, tackles, etc...Plus the distances defenders run especially attacking ones means they're "workhorses".
