interesting.
Thanks to Tyrone Shoelaces, this was the first team I ever saw:
Rovers v Middesborough F. A. Cup 5th round. Sat 5th of Feb, 1962. Att, 33,714.

Else! Taylor Newton, Clayton Woods McGrath, Douglas Lawther Pickering Byrom Ratcliffe.

We won 2-1 ( Pickering, Lawther ) setting up an away tie at Fulham in the next round. We drew that 2-2. Before the replay the draw had paired us with our old friends Burnley in the semi finals.
Typically Rovers, we played kean in the replay and lost 1-0 in front of another 33,000 crowd ! of our five forwards four were actually born in the town of Blackburn ! Now that will never happen again.

Couldn't wait for someone to start a "guess the squad numbers" topic LD.

It's more of a case of who do you think will be left to give a number to.

I've assumed Robinson, Nzonzi, Martin Olsson and Vukcevic will go.

Squad numbers for this season:

1 Paul Robinson
2 Bradley Orr
3 Martin Olsson
4 ?
5 Gael Givet
6 Jason Lowe
7 Fabio Nunes
8 David Dunn
9 Leon Best
10 Mauro Formica
11 Radosav Petrovic
12 Morten Gamst Pedersen
13 Danny Murphy
14 Marcus Olsson
15 Steven Nzonzi
16 Scott Dann
17 Paulo Jorge
18 ?
19 Edinho
20 Jordan Slew
21 Nuno Gomes
22 Mark Bunn
23 Ruben Rochina
24 Josh Morris
25 David Goodwillie
26 Raheem Hanley
27 Adam Henley
28 Anthony O'Connor
29 Nick Blackman
30 Seb Usai
31 Grant Hanley
32 Bruno Ribeiro
33 Simon Vukcevic
34 Jake Kean
35 Myles Anderson
36 Amine Linganzi
37 Robbie Cotton

The leaving out of number 4 suggests we are looking for a centre back.....Fabio Nunes getting the number 7 shirt could mean he is tipped to play quite a significant part this season......I have only seen him when he briefly came on the other day but how fast is he? Can we rely on him for the much needed pace in our side?

Numbers for Raheem Hanley and Linganzi but not for Hugo Fernandez yet.

Back-up keeper.....looked alright last game of the season against Chelsea....was on loan somewhere, maybe Hartlepool or Huddersfield or something, and their fans rated him highly.

I was going to make an issue of nunes being 7 meaning he may be favoured to play but just seen Petrovic is 11 and transfer listed
Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious.....And curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

37 numbers 35 issued and still weak. FFS this is a con.

My first Rovers game was at Ewood on Saturday 7th September 1963 - Rovers 7 v Spurs 2, attendance: 20,949

(Rovers scorers - McEvoy 4, Douglas 1, England 1, Pickering 1)

Rovers team: Else,Bray,Newton,Clayton,England,McGrath,Ferguson,McEvoy,Pickering,Douglas,Harrison

(Only 3 in that team cost a transfer fee: Else £20k, Harrison £20k and Ferguson £2k)

I think you have to take into account that 3, 5, 11, 12, 15 and 20 could all be leaving to free up numbers.

Not denying that. Was just an observation on the lack of free numbers.

So many players is this a clear sign of an uncertain manager or are Rovers an agents stable.
