Biddy
Not that I'm expecting many people to want or care about Windows 8 but I thought I'd share a couple of things. Firstly, if you want to give it a try, Microsoft are offering a very generous upgrade price from Windows XP, Vista or 7 for just £24.99 for the download version here http://www.microsoft...uctID.257641900 If checks your PC for eligibility and then downloads an ISO image, USB key install or upgrades on the fly. I chose the ISO to burn at a later date. In terms of Windows 8 GUI, it's as bad as everyone says. You can go to the desktop view but there is no start menu so you can't even find apps like notepad easily. However I have found a free hack called "Classic Shell" which can be downloaded from here http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/ which adds back in full start menu capabilities. Makes it a whole lot easier to get used to!

cmb211087
Right click then all apps. Easy! My problem is that windows update is hidden within control panel, and it took me an hour to find the power off button
Biddy
Yeah, if you want to see all the apps in a big long list on the (not called it anymore) metro menu. I was saying on desktop mode. What's more annoying is that if you choose say notepad from the metro menu, it chucks you back into desktop to use it. Why therefore can't you just have, I don't know, some kind of menu to let you get at the apps without searching.

The general consensus is, that there seemed to have been no thought or very little thought process behind windows 8 for pc, but more thought put in for phones and tablets.
