[Archived] New kit 14-15 Home & Away

Recommended Posts

When should we expect to hear about this season's new kit?

I don't think too much effort has gone into the designs over recent years. We looked particularly amateurish last season in away games wearing the dark blue shorts with our home shirt, was it too much to have alternative shorts that matched our blue half?

Teams that are going to struggle with this usually have a 3rd kit!

The away combo also looked pretty c"%p. However the odd game with us wearing all red was an improvement. Either way the kit looked cheap and was also very generic to Nike.

This season it would be nice to have two well thought through designs that are both unique and worth the money...

I liked last season's home kit, even with the dark blue shorts. If you look at some of our old kits we used to wear dark blue shorts with light blue and white halves.

I didn't like the away kit though, I'd like to see a yellow and black halved kit or red and black halves.

The away shirt this season was basically a Nike mass produced shirt which could be bought online for £15 each. They then stitched a Rovers badge on it and charged £45. Peterborough were wearing the same shirt last night only blue instead of red. I don't mind paying £40-45 for a football shirt if it looks good and some thought has gone into it, but last season they were taking the mick.

It was a particularly amateurish and lazy approach with zero imagination going into it. If Rovers' commercial department had anything about them they would have rejected it and demanded Nike came back with a better design, or went elsewhere. Thankfully the home shirt is already unique so they couldn't get away with giving us any old rubbish on that front. They wouldn't have got away with it at other clubs, so why we should accept it I don't know.

I'm not expecting any better next season. I always think that Rovers' away shirt should be a combination of red, yellow, orange or black. No blue and no white. The best shirts in recent years have been the red and black halves under Hughes and the red and black stripes back in 2001.

Unfortunately we are not big enough for Nike to produce a custom designed Rovers shirt. The club will choose one from their 2014 mass produced range, they will then produce that in slightly higher grade material and stick on a badge.

Only massive clubs like United get custom designed shirts.

Thought this years home shirt was the best in ages, was really happy with it and the fit even on a fat lad was good!

Away shirt was poor...

Looking forward to seeing what we get this time around!

They are decided on well in advance so should hear/see something soon...

Heard rumours from a reliable source that this seasons away kit is a belter.

No word on colours, as they wouldn't say, but I hope its a good un!

I'd expect,

Blue n white home as standard (maybe a bit of red trim thrown in) white shorts and a return to white socks

Away kit not to be red (as not to clash with this years kit)

The eagle eyed amongst you would realise that whilst we had stock designs, the specific colours of the design were changed.

For example our away shirt was the Striker III design, but a lighter shade of red.

Therefore I'd imagine the colour scheme will be slightly different than in the catalogue.

Personally I hope its this one!

I just hope that for the home one they have kept to the plain and simple designs of the last 3 years... no different colours and shapes etc, just plain blue and white and a subtle trim if necessary. I also like that we reverted to having blue and white on the correct side this season after many decades, long may that continue.

Apparently there was supposed to a black and grey halved away kit at one stage, but the owner's don't like black & think it's unlucky! So that probably rules out a return of the red and black halves unless they could be persuaded otherwise.

Loved that one with the red trim, though to be fair, they're all blue and white halved, so it's difficult to get it too wrong......

As for the owners' colour preferences, I forgot they'd brought us such good luck......

Exactly. A point I made last season. Poor attention to detail and makes us look like as proper rag bag outfit.

Reminds me of pre season training donkeys years ago with everybody turning up in different shirts and no bibs to hand that saw us occasionally finish the training session with a shirts v skins match.

Rovers have worn dark blue alternative shorts in away games for quite a long time. Well as long as I can remember anyway, which is back to the mid-80's.

I remember in the 80's/90's the shorts looked like someone had just rushed down to the "school p.e kit" section of a local sports shop lol

I work in a sports store and had the chance to pre-order the home and away kit from Nike this year. That never happened before, and we are the only team outside of the bigger clubs in UK/Italy/Spain/Germany/France that had the option, so my guess is that they have actually put some effort into it this year. There was actually a range of Rovers kit-related items that could be pre-ordered. I can't access the catalog now as the order deadline has passed to confirm stuff that was there, but I definitely put in a cheeky order for myself. There was sadly no pictures, though.
