Souness must go ?

People who have read my previous comments (all of whom have been critical of Souness) will know that this is not a knee-jerk reaction following the Charlton defeat.

I do admire one of Souness' strengths - fight. But did that fight reflect itself in the team against Charlton? Or Fulham, Liverpool, Man City etc.? Souness' fight is waning and his ability to instill confidence in his players is following suit.

Tactically, he is primative. Anyone can tell you that Tommo can't play left midfield. We have zero width when that happens. Any half-wit could have told you that Charlton were without Bartlett and Lisbie - their in form strikers. Surely the objective therefore, is to attack at home, not start with ONE striker and 3 defensive midfielders.

Nevertheless, tactics doesn't always win games. Ask Kevin Keegan. But what has Keegan got that Souness hasn't? The ability to give confidence and support his players. OK, Grabbi misses sitters against Genclerbiligi - what do you do? Put him on the bench to confirm your support for him OR chuck him out of the team altogether and let him rot - all £7million of him.

Souness claimed before the match that confidence was not a problem - which is why Tiny looked terrified on the ball. Ferguson avoided the ball, Flitty likewise, Tommo looked uncertain and Emerton non-existant.

WHy is Souness lying to the fans? Because he has to hide his blatent inability to help the players in their moment of crisis. No doubt Souness will blame the defeat on missed chances - why are we missing chances. Because the players are low on confidence and their manager isn't helping.

Last time we were this low under Souness, he went and bought Cole (during our first year back) and last season DUff came back to form. Souness can't buy anyone now, we don't have Duff - what is he going to do. The money was blown on failed signings - the biggest one being Barry Ferguson. A good player but not worth £7 million. Nowhere near as good as Scott Parker, Koumas, Michael Brown or Carrick.

We need to get rid to give a new man a chance to avert this crisis before it becomes disastrous. A new man will not bring with him SOuness' idiotic beliefs. Alan Mahon is not a rabid player who'll infect our players if he plays. Flitcroft isn't infallible because he's the skipper - need I go on. We need a shake up and heads must roll - Souness'.

now now Gav/Chaps.

Rover6 I agree that it doesnt look good at the moment, but other than the fact we lost, lets look at some positives

I thought Ferguson was good today, Todd was again Solid, Reid was getting forward and put in dangerous crosses. Cole was sharp and looked dangerous (except when he had a chance on goal  :( ) The biggest positive i can look at was Gallagher on the right when he came on.

Most of what you say can be used to describe our promotion season. We have the majority of possesion create more chances look more dangerous, let in a sloppy goal.

How do we remedy this without sacking Souness?

1) Tell Emerton to stay on the right touchline, we were desperate for width.

2) Dont play Tiny ever again, sorry Martin but grrrr

3) Get some luck, how many times did the ball richochet in the box etc just out of reach of a blue and white shirt?

4) Appologise to which ever black cat someone kicked/ran over/looked at funny

5) find those lucky pants

6) grow that lucky beard

7)book hotel room for cardif for a carling cup final

not meant to be offensive to anyone thats why the full words are edited !

It really grates on me that people who DID not or DO not attend the matches sit on their PC's and cream abuse at our club.

look at it from a real supporters perspective and you will see that ALL of us are part of that team.

get a grip and get to the ground to show your support :brfc:  :brfc:

Sweet jesus of Nazareth, whos your choice Glen Hoddle? I compared tonights events with what would have happened in our average game last season.

Cole tried to clip the ball in, he took Kiely with him the ball spun into the 6 yard area and was in legs length of jansen but it spun away from him. Compare that to last season where it would have gone straight to Jansens foot like a magnet and BANG! :D

It's all a bit of bad luck, 9 games in and your calling for Souness' head..too much Henry the Eight i think   :<img src=:'>

oh yes and while we are on about it.

remember that football is about ups and downs, the going is not good every week, but being a supporter is not just about winning every game its about taking the rough with the smooth. Okay we have lost a few and the going is rough, its at times like these that the support is required the most.

Negative support is definately NOT REQUIRED :brfc:

Not all of us part-time, fair-weathered fans can get to games that easily. Many of us have water in between home and Ewood. Do no create a dichotomy between the fans who do go to the Stadium and those that can't. We who watched the game on Sky have as much right, and as good a perspective on that utterly appalling defeat, as every supporter.

Interesting tonight. All around me were berating the team and Souness. About 30minutes into the second half I'd had enough and asked them to say somehting positive or nothing at all. MISTAKE! End result I get abuse for the next 10 minutes.  :D

a dichotomy ? Now thats rather posh !

Its not really meant to sound like that as I know Rovers have far afield fans who simply cannot make every game.

its aimed at fairweather partimers who live close by and do nothing that slag the club off from the comfort of their chairs. :brfc:

I wish admins would just delete posts like this.

They are unhelpful, uncalled for and pointless.

If they have been written by Rovers fans then they should be shot for being dingles in disguise.

I'm as pi55ed off as everyone else about our current form but calling for Soueys head is an absolute joke.

The stupidity of people on messageboards never ceases to amaze me.

No, Souness will turn things around, I'm confident in him. Last season we had a few bad spells where we again looked like a relegation side but we ended up in Europe. And when we get Babbel and Short back we'll be much more stable in defence. I know our current results are far, far from anywhere near acceptable but we'll be ok.

Even i've got to aim some of the blame towards the manager for tonights 4-5-1 formation? WE WERE AT HOME FOR GODS SAKE! regardless of injuries which are a major factor at the moment.

But lets sack Souness now and replace him with...........JOHN BOND maybe.

Think before you post it really does help to avoid abuse and foul language  :sarc:

For me the test for Souness starts now. I've backed him all the way since the day he arrived but how he handles this, his most sticky spell, will tell us a lot. He is going to have to swallow his pride a bit and change a few things round that he doesn't seem to want to do.

We cannot persist with thommo on the left. We cannot persist with Emerton as a right sided midfielder who insists on tucking in and cutting in. This is starving the strikers of service from that flank. At least Dizzy got the odd cross in. Reid is not a defender (although he did OK today).

Souness needs to stop overcomplicating team selection and get back to getting defenders at the back, midfielders who know their job and are comfortable doing that job in the middle and a run of games with a settled front 2.

We're certainly not being helped by the injuries and suspensions currently and all those Lucas Neill knockers are now seing what we actually miss both in a defensive and attacking support role. People may laugh but when fit Shorty is looking like one of the first names on the team sheet both for his ability and his leadership sills at the back. Luck has completely deserted us but we can't go all season crying about the run of the ball. This run has to end sooner or later or we will end up in a relegation battle.

Over to you Mr Souness. When the going gets tough ..............

We've had bad runs in every season under Souness, but the board never reacted stupidly.

00-01 - started very poorly, eventually got the finger out after about 12 games and finished second.

01-02 - appaling in the second third of the season. Did the board panic and sack Souey? Or did they let him dig us out of trouble so that we finished halfway up the table and won the League Cup?

02-03 - none quite as damaging/sustained as the previous two seasons, but we overcame the occasional dip in form to take points off of every team in the top 5 and finished6th in the 'difficult' second season back in the big time.

i do have to say i agree with what you'r saying this is the most pointless thread ive read.i was unable to atend the match tonight as it was my sons 2 birthday but i know that souness dosnt deserve the s##t banded about by the likes of rover6.souness wears his heart on his sleeve in the pre match interveiw he was nearly in tears that to me tells me that his heart well and truley belongs to rovers and for me that is the kind of man i want in charge of the club i love so #### off with you'r @#/? about getting rid of souness

It's interesting to note that whenever someone posts something remotely critical of the management or the team, they will almost by default be flamed or treated like a complete recluse by a certain set of members here. The rest of the boards seem to follow suit. I may not agree with rover6's post here but I am absolutely disgusted by the outright abuse he got for actually posting it. And no mods seemed to care until Tom mentioned that the language was a bit harsh.

I have to wonder.

We can't be negative towards our club? We can't be critical? Why not? We want our club to do well but at the moment it's clearly not. Should we never ask questions about the players or the management? We've only played what..9/10 games? Now, that is to many to put this down to a bad start. And blaming "bad luck" is a very easy way out.

If freedom of speech doesn't exist here. What is the point of a messageboard at all?
