  1. Can't fault him as a player, puts a shift in, can score and link up play.. great signing.. shame about the manager but he may just prove us wrong yet.. if he landed one of the better promising young guns (Roberts or Toral) from the PL then we could be in for a decent enough season.. ok maybe just wishful thinking but DG is certainly good enough for the championship top end clubs imo
  2. I hate em with a passion as well mate, but they have done a handful of half decent things like keep us funded and get in PL.. most of the good stuff is pretty new to us and I know none of us will never forget the joy ride they have put us through.. but at least we didn't do a Wigan/Bolton/Blackpool/Luton/Wimbledon to us.... well yet anyway (not keeping my hopes up on that front).
  3. Personally think he will get a fair chunk of the money to spend this summer.. but from my perspective I would love us to spend a tiny bit of it and get just one half decent sales person in now.. I am ashamed at the quality and lack of advertising on our billboards.. cheap beer, solicitors and betting companies.. oh and frackin mini Venkys stickers to fill some of the gaps (they better at least be paying for em). It is after all a multi-million pound business this football lark even the championship. You would think that it costs a fortune making the signs for those at the very least they could have advertised a charity or Rovers Player in the numerous white gaps.
  4. Sad news indeed.. always a shock when someone you even know a little passes away, puts life into perspective. You will be missed by many Kelbo, RIP NB if you are up there reading this forum, you could always pop back and haunt Venkys a little.
  5. .. was my home as a kid, that and sunnyhurst (me and granddad would be at the Sunnyhurst pub on a weekly basis, outside cigar and the black stuff and schwepz lemonade and walkers salt and vinegar for me) oh and Darwen Tower and surrounding areas. My dad was good friends with the Walkers, used to have a plant hire firm and millions in the bank back in the 70s mostly thanks to Jack who was my dads friend until he(my dad) started drinking).. I am still a proud fool, was one of the best in my profession (internet stuff) for many years and lost it all thanks to falling in love and loosing her to an aristocrat (no kidding was a lords son). Done most things in the uk that you would not want to experience from living with dodgy Geordie families (some of the best times of my life), living with a religious cult, being homeless though to being a very rich fool. Now starting to rebuild my life with one big eye on my star of a kid, little Lucky Lucianna Veevers. Trained in psychology, philosophy and computing to degree level a bit beyond. Sort of happy with life, have so many experiences that it is has become very humorous, what matters to me now is I have LIVED without regret and will continue to do so. Now live in the last refuge of British culture in sunny Norwich.. love the place but do miss home. BTW Jacks sons where spoilt fools was always dads little girl who mattered and cared about rovers.
  6. Glover the only recently appointed head of recruitment also walked to west ham recently..
  7. The more I think of this the more it winds me up.... I trust Kamy in what he says and out of most here he has very decent contacts within the club and a direct line to Venkys PR.. how Kean can get away with firing Jensen while remaining untouched beggers belief.. The annoying part for me is we will likely pay off Jensen.. hire someone new and then have to pay off the new bloke within 6 months. As for it being Jensens fault.. he has to use Keans tactics, Keans players and more than likely as the Keans methods (or lack of as the case may be). This is especially annoying given the other thread about how Kean treated some fans after the Newcastle game and how Jensen actually took the time to talk to the fans.. maybe that didn't go down to well with Kean, especially as there was a level of honesty to it. I have been a manager for 13years so I would fall under the career manager bracket.. not in football but in computing and I have never once had to fire my team leads or project managers because it is down to me to make sure they know what they are doing and do a good job and to me thats one of the key roles as a manager. You wouild know within 3 months at most anyway if they are any good at their jobs.. not the 8 months or so Jensen has been here. The manager is the one in charge and it is always his responsibility, it is part of the reason managers get paid so much to do their jobs because it is more often than not their heads on the block. One thing I do hope is that this is not a ploy by Venkys to save face in the public eye by getting someone experienced in to 'help' Kean do his job properly.
  8. Very very strange.. I do find it a tad worrying.. that announcement is so short and to the point that it's daft, if Kean was to be going him and Jensen would of been dumped at the same time surely.. smacks to much like either Kean making excuses and Jensen being his choice of victim or Jensen deciding he simply had enough (fallout with Kean or straight walkout). Would love to hear what Jensen has to say about this, I would imagine he might be a grumpy chap... then again Venkys PAY for silence.
  9. hang on so from his list Benni and Neil have been successful at their respective clubs...?
  10. Lets takes our player of the season list.. bar last season.. 2005–06 Bellamy Could not get a first team spot now at Cardiff 2006–07 Bentley Flopped at spuds, now out on loan to brum 2007–08 Santa Cruz Could not get a first team spot, often injured now back here 2008–09 Warnock Now a squad player, struggling to say the least and even blamed by boss for villas form. Throw in the likes of Benni and Neil, all our so called big name sales in the last few years have been flops too the extreme.
  11. Always thought Beattie, Davies and Given did well after leaving us in terms of football but they either did not get the chance at rovers or just didnt shine here, but we do seem to be the extreme, 90% of those who leave (esp after doing well here) tend to turn into complete disasters even historically back to the Shearer days.
  12. RIP Jack.. and sorry about my dad..
  13. blimey.. dont think it could have got any better for me.. was living in Norwich so had major gloating rights.. was my first ever rovers game (as I moved from blackburn as a Kid).. Norwich where top.. scoreline was insane.. ahh what memories..
  14. does anyone have a recording of the game.. would be happy to pay for a copy I remember all too well being there.. was living in Norwich at the time.. my mum suprised me by buying a ticket while we where visiting our old haunts in Darwen.. God bless her she could only get me in with the Norwich lads.. I remember seeing myself on TV near the end of the match as they panned through the glum Norwich supporters, and there is little old me celebrating number 6... lol Lucky for me Norwich fans are rather passive
