> Ewood Bridge

For Ewood Bridge read Ewood Park. In April 1882 Rovers apparently played four games at a ground in the Ewood area referred to as “Ewood Bridge” in the Blackburn Times. As Ewood Park had very recently opened and been providing athletics and greyhound racing to the local populace, it is unlikely that it is any other ground. Due to lack of evidence it cannot be fully verified but it seems almost certain that Rovers first played at Ewood Park for a brief spell in 1882. For the record, Rovers won all four of their games, defeating Sheffield Wednesday, Edinburgh Hibernians, Aston Villa and Dumbarton. The games took place between 9th April and 23rd April 1882.A great start to life at Ewood, even if it would not become their home until the next decade.
