When you look back into the history of our great club, there is an era where names of players/managers/chairmen don't come readily to mind. The 1930's and 1940's are not particularly well remembered. Unfortunately, there aren't many fans around to share memories of those decades with the fans of today. The rise of the world wide web gave rovers fans, who are dispersed all over the planet, the chance to share and record their memories of rovers players from past and present.
The "greatest ever team" topic, was just a bit of fun that could have been a real success, or indeed a real nightmare. Thanks to some terrific contributions from many of the BRFCS.com members, we got through it well. The idea to call it the "greatest", rather than "best" ever team, allowed much more discussion and debate to be aired. This allowed us to recall players from many, many years back. players like Jimmy Forrest, Eddie Latheron and Bob Crompton were happily remembered. The task of trying to compare those from yesteryear, with the likes of today's totally different type of player brought a little debate , but it all added to the interest.
Most of the topics have been saved, apart from one or two "asides" that have been left out simply to try to keep the topic tidy. There can't be many records of players past and present, kept in such a way as this.
Once again - thanks to everybody who contributed in any way to this, because you all made it work.
