This is a full list of players who have represented England while playing for Rovers. Players to have been capped for England either before or after joining Rovers (e.g. Tim Sherwood, Mike Duxberry, John Connelly, Andy Cole, Michael Gray) but who have not played for England while at Blackburn are not included. The years during which they won their caps while playing for Rovers and in brackets. This list is up to and including the 2003/2004 season. * = player not yet retired, so could feasibly add more caps in the future.

First Blackburn Rovers international – Fred Hargreaves / John Hargreaves / Jimmy Brown – all capped for the first time on 16/2/1881 at the Alexandra Meadows ground in Blackburn.

Only other player to have represented England when playing for a Blackburn side – Jimmy Ward for one cap in 1885 while playing for Blackburn Olympic.

Other local players to have been capped – Darwen: Thomas Brindle (1 cap – 1880), Rostron (2 caps – 1881), Thomas Marshall (2 caps – 1881). Accrington: George Haworth (5 caps – 1887-90), Joe Lofthouse (2 caps, 1889), James Whitehead (1 cap – 1893).
