Tugay Kerimoğlu

Tugay was signed for the Rovers by former manager Graeme Souness in the summer of 2001 from Rangers for a fee in the region of £1.3million. Making his Rovers Premiership debut as substitute in the 1- 0 defeat at Sunderland on the 8th September 2001, and netted his first goal in the 7-1 win against West Ham United on the 14th October 2001 at Ewood Park; with one of his trade mark long-range strikes.

Since signing for the Rovers he has defied the aging process to continued as a vital player orchestrating the midfield, with exceptional ball control, providing a constant flow of passes plus the obligatory long range goal, at least once a season.

At the end of the 2003-04 season he was voted the Rovers Player of the Season.

Tugay retired from international football in November 2003 after Turkey's failure to make it to Euro 2004. His finally cap came in a friendly against Brazil in June 2007, when he wore number 94 shirt to mark his 94th international appearance.

Tugay’s current contract is due to expire in June 2008.
