The trouble with players of that age is you can “ go “ at any time. I remember reading an autobiography by a famous England player. He said he was playing great in the Home Internstionals that used to be played towards the end of the season but when he returned for training at his club in late July he could feel he’d lost a yard of pace. Instead of gathering the ball in his stride he felt he was reaching for the ball all the time. Baath could be great for them next season or he could be struggling. If they loan Leonard out then it means they’re probably looking for another. I also think there’s a chance that Big Mak is less suited to VI’s way of playing too… But, I would prefer to spend the money elsewhere. I think Yuki and Big Mak are both capable of getting double figures this season and 20-30 goals between them is solid. We only play one striker so we could back those two up with Leonard who needs an injury free, breakthrough season.

Good thing about Val is for me he brings something a bit different, a bit like JDT did but a more grounded lower risk style yet brighter than the generic TM/Eustace stuff. Early days in his first full season obviously but the end of last season was encouraging.
