500 Words on Rain & The Pennines

I wonder if the ground being close to the river, has anything to do with the saturated pitch. We need to have a serious discussion in the Summer, and sort some decent drainage system out at Ewood. We've been warned about the abandonment and waterlogged pitch. -

Well timed propaganda. Well, of sorts. Recalling O'Riordan alone would certainly not be a sufficient replacement for Hyam nor solve our defensive vulnerability. They would presumably sign young players purely to further limit the wage budget as its not what we need. -

No rain at all tomorrow, and then a bit Tuesday morning with it being clear from 11am. It won't even be in, or enter anybodies thoughts until around 6pm Tuesday night. -
About 630pm tomorrow I think.

I'm pretty certain they do, can't have it one way and not the other. -
Rovers's January transfer needs

To be honest, if what Chaddy has posted is what Nixon is claiming, then none of that would be a surprise. The surprise would be if they were prepared to pay more than a few £100K for each of these younger players. I expect more low priced foreign punts like Alebiosu & De Neve, which may or may not work out -

They werent, the pitch wasnt quite as bad as v Ipswich but was still unplayable and would have got worse. After the Ipswich game, you echoed the club that there was nothing we could do and it wasnt our fault. It was bullshit at the time but a second abandonment seems to have turned those defending the club last time into criticising the club which is at least one small positive. The club and the owners deserve the blame so fair play for not sticking to your guns. -

I’m hoping it is called off, we have a severely depleted squad and another postponement, even a pre-emptive one, will increase the pressure and highlight the issues at our club. -
Didn’t strengthen their squad? They spent £450 Million in the summer 😅.

Move it to the Wham Stadium, should be enough space for everyone who would attend Ewood and we know that the game can both start and finish there. Matchday experience would be an upgrade too - easier to park, better priced food and drink, sound system -

They hold us in such utter comtempt, that's the top and bottom of it. They simply don't give a shiny one, about anything or anyone. People spent time and money on that yesterday, but they simply do not care. No apology, no contrition. Nothing. The best thing to do is to boycott the replay, as has been suggested. As a ST holder, I'd be all for that, as would the Wednesday fans I imagine. -

Groundman, "The Board" & even venkys should be down at Ewood right now to see if we get a repeat when it rains this afternoon. Only light rain predicted but how good is this drainage now with a view to giving Oxford the ok to travel? is the ground playable after light rain following yesterday's embarassment? -

Surely that game doesn't go ahead. Pitch will be a right mess and it's forecast non stop rain -

It's been bad for years. Game against Preston a few years ago was shocking and that's 3 or 4 now in 2 years. Lack of investment and club management. -

Not exactly true. When water flows over other surfaces, toss molecules blow become attached to them. That means the flow from the upper surface will be aided. Remember when Paul Lambert signed his own p45 by presenting them with his blueprint for pushing the club forwards all those years ago ? I believe a complete redoing of the pitch was top of that agenda alongside team investment. Didn't take long for his exit clause to be activated once he realised they weren't interested. -

We have to hope we're inching towards the end of the Venkys era as these factors add up. Remember: regimes collapse slowly slowly then all at once. God help us with whatever comes next! -

For a start there was 4 of them involved and it seems like they've all had a go at it one at a time. Mrs D took it off Barry when it was going tits up then quickly lost her rag with it. Venky the 3rd wheel had a brief go but he was never really interested. Now we are stuck somewhere between Barry again, his kid and Mr D. Arrogance and ignorance is their main issue they've clearly demonstrated in the past 'It's OUR club we'll do what we want and pay for the mistakes' Then came the court case. -

As our pitch is raised you would assume drainage would be simplified. Another option is to skewer directly into the mound all around the pitch which is fine for the outer areas. A simple angled covering of the pitch a la Wimbledon would work ( won't stop the weather though) Presumably the groundsman have taken core samples all around the pitch to Identify compacted areas. A plug sample shows grass growth and soil density as well as soil/sand/clay levels
