https://www.efl.com › documents › efl-handbook.pdf Ground Maintenance 2.1 The Club is to be responsible for the maintenance of the pitch and for the general maintenance of the ground, including (but not limited to) ground safety. The Club must ensure that adequate arrangements are in place to maintain its pitch in good order, as required under Regulation 13. 28.4 Each Club shall take all reasonable steps to maintain its pitch in good order. The League may require a Club to take such steps as it shall specify if not satisfied that an adequate standard of pitch is being maintained, including but not limited to The League commissioning an independent report on the state of the pitch by a Club, the cost of such independent report to be borne by the Club concerned. Guidance Both the referee and away team manager mark the condition of the home pitch. Should a Club’s average pitch mark fall below 3, The League will write to the Club requesting observations on why their pitch has deteriorated and what remedial measures will be undertaken to ensure that the pitch improves. 28.9 Each Home Club shall provide full pitch frost covers and/or under soil heating (the specification of which shall meet the reasonable satisfaction of The League) which shall be operated to the extent necessary to procure, so far as it is reasonably possible, that the pitch is playable on the occasion of each match. A breach of this requirement which results in the postponement or abandonment of a match shall be dealt with in accordance with Regulation 32, and not Regulation 8.4. 29 Postponements, Abandonments and Re-Arrangements 29.1 In the event of a fixture postponement no matter the cause, the League will decide the new date on which the fixture is to be played following consultation with both Clubs. Guidance It is not permissible for a club to make a decision to postpone a match and in the first instance Clubs should contact the Football Services Department for advice. The full guidance document is available here. Re-dating of Postponed Fixtures. Detailed guidance is available for Clubs here, however in summary: • The League will ask the Clubs to mutually agree a date in the first instance; • if Clubs are unable to mutually agree a date, The League will set the date of the fixture and will take into account the following considerations: the provisions of the relevant League policy (as updated from time to time); • the preferred dates of both the Home and Away Club and the rationale for preferences; • Home and Away fixtures either side of the proposed dates; • the ability to date already existing and further potential postponed fixtures; • any interference or possible clashes with Cup fixtures, replays or international fixtures; • any Police and SAG views/requirements; and • any pairing issues. • Notwithstanding the provisions of Regulation 29.1, The League reserves the right at any time to reschedule a League match after consultation with and consideration of representations from the Clubs involved. • Each Club must ensure that both: 29.3.1 its home ground (being the ground that is registered in accordance with Regulation 13.5); and • 29.3.2 any Registered Players, • Every Club must have a publicly stated policy regarding ticket refunds or other arrangements for abandoned matches. remain available to the Club during the period of four days commencing with the day after the day of the Club’s last fixture in the League Competition (including play off matches) so as to enable the fulfilment of any fixtures (in full or in part) ordered by The League to be played after the end of the Season (if any). It has been very disappointing. All the goals allowed in added time, not being able to finish what should have been easy 1-0 wins on our waterlogged pitch, etc. I am generally a sunshine pumper, but there’s little hope of suddenly, things going our way. -

I used to love match days now I just think what's the f'ing point. Team sold, average unknowns bought, awful ownership, no money, decaying ground, abandoned game after abandoned game, directors who couldn't organise a bunk up in a brothel. We used to be Blackburn Rovers FFS. I'm embarrassed to say that out loud these days, I keep it secret. Win lose or draw this match will have no impact on anything, we'll survive this season by the skin of our teeth and then the whole circus starts again next year. Plus ca change and all that. Rovers 1:0 but game abandoned due to Venky/Padha/Gestede mismanagement . -

They’ll say they are adhering to the two different terms and conditions of the tickets. Never do more than they have to this lot (and often not even that). -

I wouldn't be surprised if they try and get a small fee for Tronstad in January. -

Agreed. I know if I reported on a 60% yield at work I'd have some pretty stern questions to answer. -

How can you look at this video, and then say yesterday's conditions were worse than this with a straight face. VID-20250920-WA0008.mp4 -

They do indeed but I don’t really understand why there is differentiation between ST and folk who paid for match attendance. Both have already paid for the fixture. -

Do you think we will splash out on an experienced, proven defender as well as bringing O'Riordan back to directly replace the sorely missed Hyam? If you think theres a chance of that then you havent been paying attention. -

He was a cheap buy from a foreign team, I was not stating that he was foreign -
Did they strengthen at centre back or right wing or number 6 defensive midfielder position? Instead of spending millions on Isak why not strengthen those 3 positions instead?

Is there a condensed timeline of the drainage issues/lack of action? Fitted in the late 80s, Waggots has mentioned he got a quote refused at board level to repair. After the first postponement we've fitted a PVC pipe into the river, had another postponement and are now on course for a third Vs Oxford? Anything im missing? What have united utilities said? -

Alebiosu was hardly a foreign punt given you came through the Arsenal academy The 3 position was a centre back, Tronstad's replacement and a striker supposedly we are after in January He has not said O'Riordan will be Hyam's replacement BTW. Gueye isn't good enough. We need a better back up striker to Ohashi and Gudjohnsen. -

That might have been his intention but not really. His "galloping steed" is a boney old nag fit for the knackers yard if he thinks only 60% efficiency on the drainage is acceptable. Surely that's the whole problem rather than the solution or being acceptable? -

Actually, I don't think it is worse. First, the ball does bounce in the clip and travel reasonably well even though the pitch looks horrendous (as did many in those days.) -

Said last time, if the problem is the actual drain into the river not being able to get rid of the water quickly enough, then add more outlets and/or intercept the drain, dig a sump and pump it over the top into the river.
