  1. Past hour
  2. He is. My granddaughter was at the same school as him and it was their sports presentation night recently. He was presented with several awards mostly for his athletic prowess in various disciplines. I know the club have really high hopes for him.
  3. Jordan Rhodes - £8 million sold for c£11 million - Consistent reliable top goal scorer. Adam Armstrong - £1.75 rising to £3 million - Sharp young prospect scored goals and developed here - sold for double figures. Brereton - £6/7 million - Prospect took a long time to develop but showed his potential and SHOULD have fetched double figures. Szmodics - £2 million - Good lower league prospect found his feet here and kept us up almost on his own - Sold for 4 or 5 times the fee. Danny Graham - Free transfer, big wages - Reliable strong centre forward played a big part in promotion and res-establishing club. There are more but the point is you DO have to invest good money regularly if you want to resell for big bucks and reap the benefits in between.
  4. That's how I categorise Leonard due to his lack of height / pace. He'll have to play as a 10 (pushing on past the CF) or as a hard working L/RW as a 'playmaker' type. He has good movement / a good feel for the game too - albeit I wish his finishing was better.
  5. I did like the interview directly after the Stanley game,it felt right to me. I quite like him, let's hope we can start the way we finished last season.
  6. Turns 17 on January 12th, so could tie him down for 3 years from then. I'd like to think a pro deal is there waiting to be signed, along with Eze who turns 17 in September. Saying that though Tyjon still hasn't signed despite allegedly having a pro contract on offer since March.
  7. Clarkson didn't do much with us, but I wouldn't be against bringing him back. Done pretty decent at Aberdeen, still young and he's a fan of the club.
  8. Loaning players only make sense if you're pushing for promotion or staving off relegation. Why develop a player from Liverpool if the plan is to just sit comfortably in mid table?
  9. Exactly, Plymouth had not one, but two ‘away’ kits last season, why? Because it certainly wasn’t for colour clashes…
  10. Seems like our medics don't know the difference between cramp, a calf and a hamstring. I'd sack the feckin lot of them.
  11. I think we need another centre back, even after McLoughlin signs. Carter is constantly injured and Wharton will take a while to get anywhere near up to the required level. Maybe a loan, unless there is an academy player ready to step up? Otherwise we are solely reliant on McLoughlin and Hyam for the majority of the season.
  12. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if come opening day, Higgins is seen as back up for Ohashi & Gueye, & Tyjon for Cantwell, with Kargbo, D Neve, Hedges and a new signing competing for spots out wide. It also would not surprise me to see Rover attempts to appease Tyjon & Higgins, mean that they forget about Joe Boggan (another promising forward but not likely to reach the same level as the other two... which ironically means Rovers may have a greater chance at keeping him for longer), and result in him departing next summer when his current contract expires
  13. These shirts are designed to sell. That’s what Macron want, that’s what Rovers want. They are designed to be marketable. The green shirt might get trotted out a couple of times in matches, like the pink one last season. This is probably contractual. It has very little to do with colour clashes with opposition teams!
  14. No I don't care. He is under salary and we should play him until a deal is struck. Sick of always letting players have all the cards whilst being paid generously. And if he is professional and wants a good deal when he moves on in January or the summer, he will have to play well.
  15. Elliott was excellent; Beck very good; Morton average; Clarkson poor. Overall, unless they're obviously potentially outstanding like Elliott I don't see the point and would rather give our own academy lads a go. They have to believe there is a route to the first team if they work hard and play well and their career path is not going to be blocked by interns from "bigger" clubs.
  16. Did I say that? He can still be part of the first team squad without having an unhealthy reliance on him. Theres still scope for him to break through if hes ready. You want another right back and keep justifying the Forshaw deal. So with 2 senior right backs and 4 central midfielders, we may aswell sell Montgomery, right?
  17. Good to hear we’re not going to waste money on developing other team’s players. For every Harvey Elliot there are 5 Morton’s. The Academy lads who are good enough and ready, like Montgomery, should be utilised in the first team squad.
  18. Slowly they have taken better decisions? In recent years, two successive managers have decided they had no choice but to leave such is the running of the club. 3 potential signings fell through due to "admin issues." A one off talent through the academy was pushed out the door for a knock down price and the money wasnt reinvested. The womens team has had the rug pulled from under it. The stadium has not been maintained. The club has been submerged under the shadow of a court case due to the owners dodgy doings. Has the academy been invested in or has it just been kept going, and are they getting praise because its an area of the club they havent closed? Attendances are really low due to disengagement and also high prices. The owners havent attended in about 10 years. Im not sure the public liason woman who was binned off after 30 years agrees with the family feel. We tried to keep Weimann and Batth so it wasnt a strategic choice for resale purposes. Forshaw still signed so how does that fit in. Wage to income % will never be healthy as a Championship club.
  19. He sounds the type of athletic striker that could play up top in the future.
  20. So we might aswell sell Tyjon to Arsenal with your comments?
  21. Today
  22. Thanks. Ismael has praised Montgomery alot recently and he seem a big fan of him. I wonder if we will go for centre back given his comments about Wharton and Carter's injury. Interesting comments about loan players. There is upside to loaning players in but also a downside. Ismael's comments seem to suggest he thinks the negatives outweigh the positives. I think a couple of quality loans can push higher in the league and worth it if you got quality loans in. If you bring in average players on loan, might aswell use the academy players surely?
  23. Thanks for the info. Seems he's kind of a technical 'ten'👍🏻, not an out and out striker. Still need one of those.
  24. “ Paul Gallagher “ went through my mind watching him last weekend. If Gally had have quicker he would have been a top striker. As it was he was blessed with only average pace. Having said that he had a good career playing in a deeper role without ever reaching the heights.
