Rovers entertain Colchester United in the FA Cup this afternoon at Ewood Park, a game that could determine the destiny of the club and a couple of players.

For the club, a continued run in the cup will hopefully generate a resurgence of interest from the armchair supporters and get them back in to Ewood Park and for two players, should they be selected this afternoon, it could determine their future involvement with the club.

With the lack of fire power up front Matt Jansen may be given another chance to kick start his season, and to give Jansen the opportunity to prove to the Rovers management that he deserves an extension to his contract which runs out at the end of the season.

The biggest challenge however is for want away, Barry Ferguson, who has been left in limbo, after Rangers cheeky bid to get him on the cheep, was rejected outright by the Rovers board. After requesting a transfer, the "boo boys" are bound to be on his back, with howls of derision at every missed tackle or miss placed pass. Anything less than a 110 per cent effort from the Scott will undoubtedly be criticised.

I for one would hope that if Mark Hughes does pair Ferguson and Savage together for the first time this afternoon, that the fans back Hughes judgement and restrict any adverse comments and booing, whilst Ferguson wears the famous blue and white shirt.

Team News

Mark Hughes has a full squad to choose from, although Dickov had a groin problem in training and Hughes may rest him in view of Wednesday's game against Chelsea.
