...something far beyond even Souey's capabilities...

If that's the case then full marks to Souey the Machiavellian mastermind.

Seriously though, if Bellamy was to go either here or Brum, I don't think there would be a happy ending. He's a big-headed little **** who thinks he should be playing for Man Utd, and assuming he has a successful season of rehab wherever he ends up (please, not us) his agent will be sorting out his escape route pretty damn quick.

You have got to put your trust in Hughes. If he wants him he obviously thinks he can add strength to the team as well as handling his attitutude off the pitch.

Wow...that is a very subtle dig at Souness but obviously not quite subtle enough. kennysuperbuyer is back and posting on threads about Dunn and Bellamy..hey, who need all those threads with no mention of Souness? After all they are just about Blackburn Rovers...

As Radagast said..."who'd have thunk it"????

Sorry, guys - whilst I take the point about judging a player in his time with us, I would rather keep my £5 million in the bank until a better proposition becomes available. Buying Bellamy smacks of desparation to me ........ and we're not that desparate.

Craig Bellamy will prove to be a very expensive mistake, believe me!!

I'll be cheering us on to get Bellamy (if there is a battle to get him for which we have no evidence at all) only because I hate Steve Bruce for what he and Paddy Crerrand said to me after Rovers had "lost" 1-0 at OT after the Sherwood equaliser was disgracefully disallowed.

I hate Steve Bruce. (Gold and Sullivan are not vey nice either)

Now, time to get a grip and hope that Diego Tristan = x

Personally, I would sooner see us relegated than have to watch Bellamy - a thoroughly unpleasant man, undisciplined, bad-tempered, immature and an all-round dodgy character. Some things are more important than football and allowing that bloke to think he can behave the way he does on and off the pitch is one of them.

Sorry - I'm not a fan!

If you are prepared to see our beloved Rovers relegated before you are prepared to see Bellamy put on the blue and white shirt then it is quite clear you are not fan !!!

Bellamy has his problems yes, do I like him as a man, NO!, is he a complete to**er, YES!

Is he a good footballer, as much as I hate to admit it, YES!

This is in sunday's Observer.

It would be worth 6 million just to p*ss Gold Bruce and Co off.

That small club called Welshpool seen as more attractive than mighty Birmingham once again !!

Blackburn are today expected to lodge a firm £6million bid for Newcastle's Craig Bellamy. Club officials made an initial approach for the striker last night as Birmingham's negotiations continued - and they are, say sources close to Bellamy, 'a very attractive option for the player'.

The rival offer will come as a blow to Birmingham chairman David Gold, who had spoken earlier in the day about his confidence that Bellamy would be joining before tomor row's midnight

I'm more of a fan than you clearly are capable of imagining - and I don't want my club to be associated with an overrated, spoilt child like Craig Bellamy who will think he is bigger than the club. The club is far more important, regardless of their position in the league, and I dont want it to be tarnished with the likes of Bellamy.

It's clear we're on different wavelengths, So I'll drop this one.

Did anybody hear the Savage interview before today's game on Talksport ?

Savage said he'd spoke to Bellamy a few times during the week.

He could be having more of an influence than you think with this one.

A chance to get his own back on Birmingham with Bells on ! (excuse the pun)

I'm a Blackburn Rovers Fan. Not a Craig Bellamy fan. I'll cheer on whoever pulls on the shirt. Don't like the fella but who cares, I go home to a great family everynight and then to see my team on a match day, Bellamy included. My team is worth more to me than the sum of its parts!!

Various sunday newspapers are claiming that Blackburn have nipped in with an 11th-hour bid to steal Newcastle reject Craig Bellamy from Birmingham!

Great, but whats happening with ferguson? We can't afford £6m without selling, or can we?! ohmy.gif

First off, let's not be telling each other who is a fan and who isn't. Surely the person who said they would rather see us relegated than get Bellamy was just trying to emphasise his dislike for Bellamy. I dumb way of putting it I'm sure.

Can we afford him? Can we afford not to get him? Relegation still looms large the big question mark for me is can Bellamy stay fit.

Will we do a part swap for Bazza, don't know but as soon as Souness left I said on this very board it would happen, you heard it here first. I think we can raise the money if tthe deal is structured right and we can dump some of the heavy useless pay packets off our squad.

I would love Bellamy to come here the man has pace that is frightening and, as I have said, with Fergie in the same team if we can hold on to him it would be an exciting thing. Go for it Rovers let's rouse some interest and burn those big headed Brummies again. Boy Rovers and Brum could become a bigger grudge match than them and Villa.

A big name signing may just help raise a bit of interest around town too, perhaps a few more ticket sales.

Well where are we getting this money from, especially as nothing seems imminent on the Bazza front?

Are our coffers deeper than we had predicted?

Well in three months we get the Dahlin Money (obviously on the appeal being unsuccessful- which it should) that gives rovers an extra £4m+....

I for one would love to see Bellamy come to rovers.

I think he would add a element up front we have been lacking for many years.

Sure, he isnt the most liked guy in football. But he is a great player.

If he does join us, hopefully the supporters can see through all the shight and realise how good a signing he would be.

Fingers crossed

This is The Observer article already referred to.

Interesting to see Gold in effect arguing that because Dunn fell out with Souness and went to Brum, it must be the obvious place for Bellamy to go to as well!

The papers are divided this morning, some are saying we will pip Brum for Bellamy, some that we will bid for Bellamy and one that Bellamy is going to Brum. I suppose journalistic expertise depends on whether they are owned by a porn baron or not.

Aussie in Uk- I am pleased that someone else is factoring in the probable insurance money!

personally i don't think that the money will come from the insurance claim. if we pull this off, i'm more inclined to think that its a 'cole' style of financing, and that its a special release of funds for what is essentially an emergency situation. more likely, while the 4m insurance claim might have gone towards sparky's transfer kitty for next season, it will now go back to the trustees' fund. but whatever, i don't really care, as long as we land a decent striker. and kudos to the board and sparky if we pull this off. and not forgetting, mr savage, who must have had a friendly chat or two with his welsh mate.
