I don't think he can hack it anymore, if he was an asset to Brum why would they let him go cheap and to us of all people.

I have my doubts, how do we know he will get along with sparky? How will he ract at Sparky's training regimen? Can he even handle it. Low fee and pay per play is the only saving grace, just in case he does make it.

I'm actually quite excited by the thought of potentially having Warnock and Dunn on the left side.

Bllody hell - you surprised me there! I would have expected you to be against Dunn's return...

For what it's worth, though - I agree! It would be a good option to have.

Not at all. If we were paying his wages in full then it probably wouldn't be a wise move, but on a pay-as-you-play deal, what have we got to lose? It's a bit like the Jeffers transfer, just with potentially far greater rewards.

Personally I think the most likely position Dunn will fill is the left wing slot. He has played there a fair bit and I don't think Sparky will put him in the centre of the park because he'll then not be able to use Savage in the way he was bought for.

Pedersen provides very little in terms of creativity out there, I'm sure Dunn playing a free-ish role, drifting in the from the left will be more productuve. It was the role he was pencilled in for by many people when he was being talked about as a future England international, and one he played regularly for the U21s.

What a superb idea! play Dunn on the LW in place of MGP for a few games (assuming we can actually get two or more consecutive games out of Dunn) and after that nobody will ever again slag MGP off! Brilliant!!!

dunn on pay as you play i don't think you can argue with, it throws all his injury factors out the window.

it would be a shock if he didn't sign for us now, there are so many links and rumours and where there is smoke, theres always fire.

personally i cant wait untill he is a rover again, you know he is going to give 100% effort being a local lad, he can play all over the midfield, and it's just a win, win situation imo.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not...

If you are, Dunn was championed in that position by many people whilst playing for the U21s (remember the wonder goal versus the Dutch?). Zidane/Ronaldinho and other players in his position usually get put out on the left side, but with license to roam, I think it could work well for us, especially as Pedersen doesn't do anything that you'd expect a traditional winger to do.

On the other hand, if I've wrongly assumed sarcasm then I apologise. :)

Yes I know -sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, and it is definitely not a mode I would normally resort to. I apologise for stooping so low.

However, the real point I wanted to make was that I believe that the Dunn we will get back from Brum will bear no resemblance at all to the Dunn we sold to them. He is so injury prone as to be virtually useless, overweight and unfit, and several years older than the youth you describe playing for the England U21's. In other words not worth having even as a gift. However nothing would make me happier than to be proved completely wrong, sadly I fear it won't happen, and the Brummie porn merchants will not stop laughing for about 6 months.

Whats to say that having this new left back behind Gamst and having a less defendedly minded midfielder next to him in Dunn will not improve Gamsts game.

Oh well, i guess only time will tell... I for one would love to see Dunn back in blue and white. Pay as you play contract is the best bet though with his injury problems...

I would take issue with this on the basis that I have loosely follwed him since his time at Brum and in a reasonable amount of the games he has actually played for them he has been described as their best player (including four or five last season in the prem), and that in a number of positions including up front.

I certainly wouldn't say that there is a problem with him producing the quality on the pitch, rather its getting him out there in the first place.

I think really you have to come down to the analysis that we are not going to get a player of his standard for the fee that is being bandied about. Injuries are a massive problem, but really I cannot see how it is going to make us weaker as a team than we are now. Worth the gamble for 500k-1m, even if he manages only ten to twelve games throughout the rest of the season.
