Ste B
So here's a very selfish question. I'm coming over in August form the states and will be in Blackburn on the 15th. My hopes were to see the home opener. But it looks like that will be postponed due to the UEFA Cup qualifying rounds. First part of the question: is this true? Second part: if so, what are the dates of the next home qualifier? thanks mates. 1) Yes 2) Either the 16th or 30th August

Ste B
Does the 2nd qualofying round generate points for UEFA seeding purposes? Anyone know? Yes, but they are for next seasons competition
Ronin
Looking further ahead, here is an article asking whether Rovers can win the UEFA Cup. Good article. Nice to see some parts of the media putting a positive spin and praise on Rovers achievements.

tchocky
I want Vålerenga! Failing that Häcken will do nicely. However it's not looking good for Häcken at the moment whereas Vålerenga are through along with the other remaining norwegian side, Brann. If Rovers should get the trip to Oslo I'm sure there will be a host of us ready to entertain you

Philly Rover ®
--> QUOTE(Ste B @ Jul 30 2007, 18:35 ) 532473[/snapback] Thats only correct up until press. Theres also at least 2 teams who will be seeded above us after the teams from the 3rd Qualifying round of the Champions league (thats assuming that all the seeded teams win) See http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/seedcl2007.html For the uefa cup, the seeding is explained http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/seeduc2007.html Assuming we qualify for the group stages, its highly likely we will end up in pot C, with as already mentioned a reasonable chance of ending up in pot B assuming 3 higher ranked clubs get beat We would need about 6 champs league seeds to be knocked out, and all the 1st round games to go to plan for us to end up in pot D, Good job explaining that, Ste B. I had tried to piece together Rovers' possibilities in the Vetra thread, but the second match day of these first qualifying round matches hadn't taken place yet, so I was only going on assumptions. The takeaway, of course, is that there are far too many factors included (i.e. those teams knocked out of the Champions League third qualifying round) to examine any scenarios beyond the second qualifying round right now. Oh well, at least we'll know the different possibilities for next round in a few minutes.

Hacken and My Pa are headed to extra time/pens so Iceland and the Faroe Islands (I think) might be in the bottom half of the draw. Drogheda now 3-0 up and now won. All the seeded teams seem to be through from what I can see. OK looks like My Pa through on away goals and Hacken scored in the 90th minute so no possibility of a trip to the best capital in Europe- Reykjavik. Just the "exoticism" of Soviet throw back in Minsk then as an upset to the UEFA seedings.

Lathund
Hammerby play in Stockholm for UEFA cup matches. the Råsunda stadium They always play in Stockholm actually, just a different stadium. It's just that, similar to London actually, there aren't any clubs above Sunday league level that have "Stockholm" in their name. Or in London's case, "London". For yet another lesson in Swedish football, AIK aren't in fact called AIK Stockholm. AIK Solna would be better, but really it's just AIK. Probably no more than two people or so who cares about that sort of thing though, so I'll just shut up now
