Alan75
No Last Minute Panic Buying. Well the last day of the Summer Sales, apart from Paul Gallagher joining neighbours Preston on loan until January, passed without any real drama as far as Rovers were concerned. Looking at some of the deals that went through in the last 24 hours, I didn’t notice any of player involved that would on current form have been capable of displacing any of our first team squad. In fact yesterday’s activities resembled more of last minute panic buying, similar to having forgotten to buy a great aunt a Birthday / Christmas present. Notable loan moves, only because of previous Rovers association were Paul Dickov - Man City to Crystal Palace, Marcus Bent - Charlton to Wigan and Shefki Kuqi - Crystal Palace to Fulham. Major concerns, principally due to media speculation, for Rovers Supporters, were the fear of departure of star players, ie Benni McCarthy, Morten Gamst Pederson, and David Bentley never came to fruition and Rovers in fact strengthened the squad way before the transfer deadline with the acquisition of Maceo Rigters and Rogue Santa Cruz; for a fraction of the money being spent by other Premiership Clubs.
