After a goal less first half, that saw both sides cancel each other out, the second half between Reading and Rovers, saw the Rovers gain the upper hand following the sending off of Reading's Marek Matejovsky for two bookable offences.

With Reading down to 10 men, Rovers manager Mark Hughes pushed for the winner, bringing on both McCarthy and Derbyshire, however Reading held firm, to gain a point in their fight against relegation.
