I want to see an unpredicatable, off the wall type, of young player in the centre of Rovers midfield not some sterile ageing Swiss footballer.

What universe do you live in? You want to sell every backup player we have, and apparently want 2-3 players in each position who are all top-half Premiership standard? Well of course we all want that, including Mark Hughes. But we realise that we can't have that. Only the top four have that kind of depth. Simply because it costs too much, and because a player good enough to play most games in this league won't be happy sitting on the bench at a club like Blackburn. As for Vogel, surely even you would agree that at this moment in time he's a better choice in central midfield than Tugay or Mokoena? Hence, he's improved the team. As for age; We'd all rather have a bunch of guys in their early-mid twenties who have ten years left at the highest level, but again, that costs money. For us to pick up those players they need to be out of favour at a big club, gambles from smaller leagues/clubs or for some other reason be available at a lower price than their talent would normally demand. And there aren't too many of those around who are actually good enough. Which means that the rest of the squad (Including some starters) will have to be filled by aging players (Where MH has done a great job) or untried youngsters (Where we still have work to do). When there's genuine, young, talent available Hughes will go for it (Bentley, Warnock, Santa, Benni (28 perhaps isn't young, but not old either)), but when there's not we need to go for what's available.

Anyway, Brad, Tugay and Ooijer all signed at a similar age as Vogel. The first two have given us great service, and Brad is still one of the best in the game (And yeah, I know it's different for goalkeepers). Age alone is not a good enough reason to dismiss a player.

And one final thing; Would you be happier with a sterile ageing English footballer?
