Daily Mail run the ten Cate story saying Panathanaikos have to wait for Rovers and put Alan Irvine into the running.

After I poo-pooed the idea Advocaat would be interested here comes Tribal Football saying he is. Interesting that they say Advocaat missed out to Hughes four years ago- anyone remember that?- and that Advocaat hasn't signed his new (10m Euros a year) Zenit contract. Maybe Advocaat wants a shot at the EPL more than money (and Rovers' wage is hardly breadline stuff) or perhaps the Ozzies are still sore about losing him to Zenit?

Tribal- Laudrup in the frame for the Chelsea and Rovers jobs (That makes him a Hughes-esque certainty for Ewood then!)

Nice to know the someone in the Mail had the sense to use that picture of Maclaren to accompany their article. We must have a mole there too! :tu:

Good news ... it says that he is not high on williams list.

Bad new ....... it suggests ince is. To quote a past manager Ince is not a 'proper man' imo

The BBC's Gossip column:

Former Rangers coach Dick Advocaat has entered the race to become Blackburn Rovers boss. The Dutchman is stalling on a contract offer from Zenit St Petersburg. (The Sun)

But others believe former Chelsea assistant Henk Ten Cate is battling with MK Dons boss Paul Ince in the race to be the next manager of Blackburn. (Daily Mirror & Daily Mail)

Former England head coach Steve McClaren, who is keen to work at Ewood Park next season, has turned down the chance to become the next manager of Dutch club FC Twente. (The Times)

Great links roy!

Telegraph doesn't tell us anything we don't know already. I do take issue with their sloppy wording- "over-achieving squad". I felt that squad under-achieved somewhat last year.

Ditto the Independent However, the Independent also run a story about a short list of 4.

The Guardian seems to think a decision within ten days works against ten Cate,

The Times web site is dead at the moment but BBC gossip says they report Henning Berg to be amongst the front runners.

Haven't seen this before; Mirror op-ed arguing against Shearer.
