They're not good sparky - e.g. Top of the league: Child Poverty

Same here Abbey - but then that's one of the main reasons why I buy a season ticket. I can justify that to myself but the thought of shelling out £35 for one match when it's on in the pub - well that might be a little harder to do for most folk I'd imagine.

Anyway! Let's not get Thursday off on the wrong foot - we could win this. Or lose it quite easily. United is a big step up from Newcastle, Everton and Fulham. All things considered and despite Scholes and The Big Fat Scouse Lad being out I'd take a draw now. Then again you never know.

Get those police cells ready by the way, a 5.30 kick off with this scum in town isn't a good move. Nowt to do with the club that though, the police could have quite simply turned it down. Last season I saw a couple of Manc clowns getting bundled into the back of a police van at 11.45am - that was a 5.15 kick off if I remember rightly. Takes some doing that.

Older viewers - what's the earliest you've been arrested before a match has kicked off? Share your fond memories on BRFCS.com.

Bob-I was arrested at 3.15pm at Fratton Park once, after threatening Mick Channon after he scored two early goals and proceeded to do his trademark windmill celebration. Technically not before the match, but it's the best I can do I'm afraid.

Long way to go for 15 minutes of football.

That's good going Oz. A mate of mine was turfed out at Villa Park after Andy Kennedy scored that goal in the Cup - that was early on in the match as well.

Still, five and a half hours before kick off is going to be hard to beat I'd imagine. Come on lads and lasses don't be shy.... ABBEY? Waggy? philip?

Always been a good boy and never been kicked out of a football match. However, I did get into bother at Old Trafford Cricket Ground once when I told an over officious policeman who had managed to wind up the section he was policing to cool it. I smiled at him when he came over and asked if he was entirely sure of the legal powers he was threatening to evict me with at which point a gentleman who had drunk much more stood up and swore at the cop so he got carted out and I got forgotten about.

I spent the weekend in Sheffield with some mates when we played the Blades in the 80's. It was the first match after it was made illegal to enter a football ground drunk. We proceeded to enjoy 12 pints before kick off in The Broomhill Tavern and The Cricketers. At the ground the turnstile operator said 'jump over lads' and waved us through. Beat that!

Wasn't arrested but was frog marched off the pitch, out of the ground and into one of those large black police vans after the Willington FA Cup match, away, in 1973. For something I didn't do - honestly!

We all invaded the pitch after the game and some Rovers fans started bricking the local houses down one side of the ground. Finally one brick found its mark and a bedroom window went through which prompted the police to move in.

I was an easy target and nicked before a higher ranking officer let me out of the van. I just got the coach but to coin a phrase was 'bricking it' at the thought of my dad having to come up to the north east to bring me home.

PS - it was jim mk 2 who threw the brick who paid me £1.35 to keep quiet.

I can think of two rucks back in the '70s/80s (one in particular on the Railway Terrace at Burnden) which were started by the Police throwing the first punches.

I know I don't go as often as I used to (cue 'drog) but (Malta v Croatia aside) I have scarecely seen any football violence in the latter half of the ninties or in the noughties.

My brother got arrested just after he walked through the turnstile once at Hillsborough (the 2-1 last minute Newell winner game). He was half cut and the copper on duty took exception to his boisterous ways. All good fun.

Another mate of mine got arrested at the old Victoria Ground Stoke in the 2nd minute of the game for abusing John Gidman. Got banned from all grounds in Staffs for that. Mind you, if you're going to abuse someone, make it John Gidman that's what I say.

I remember in the 70's going to Southport away (with Oldham) arriving at the ground an hour and a half before kick-off - but still getting inside

and promptly getting thrown in the back of a police van for Shinning up one of the four flag poles that used to be in the open end -_-

My first game at ewood park and your right it was never a pen! i was only a nipper but you always remember your first game. I was in the darwen end too in the pouring rain and it was keith curle who slotted the pen into the corner to make it 1-1. we lost 3-2 that night and there was loads of trouble outside the ground after the match too.

Also seen scott get escorted out of old trafford because of a flag, the stewards where ridiculous that day, very heavy handed and i got searched 3 times too. Still we won the game 2-1 though, good times!

Ahh, Keith Curle.....cheers for that......remember being in the cells under the darwen end chained to a rail on the wall waiting to be photod and finger printed then off to the town centre station to sober up and be charged......in a cell with a few city......happy days.....well maybe not as the £260 fine and bounding over for 12 months showed.........there was also city fans with german flags........Uwe Rosslers influence no doubt........

I have been frog-marched out of Stamford Bridge when they were completing the building work in 2000, was up in London to see the QPR vs Rovers game, and had some time free before the match, and decided to take a look at some of the Stadiums on the way to Loftus Road. Gates were open, building work was being completed.

Was taking some pictures of Stamford Bridge for my brother and it happened...

Didnt stop be enjoying us giving QPR a hiding though. Met all the Rovers squad including Souness and Hughes that day... Wasnt overly impressed with Sparkies attitude toward the fans...

Oh well, the more things change, the more they stay the same!

When I was a kid I got chucked out of ewood after we climbed over the wall between the riverside and darwen and got caught playing football on the pitch. This was at ten in the morning, 5 hours before we played Bury in the season we won promotion to the 2nd division.

Got escorted out the ground when we played QPR in the cup in the late 80's. Lucky for me the copper let me go after leaving the ground, still had to wait outside of the coach for more then a hour!!

Indeed Abbey, Indeed.

Not sure if it was the Cup Game at Villa when Andy Kennedy scored as it was pretty packed and was a mid week game so time ago , but do remember a Rovers fan being chased by about 3 Stewards and a copper very soon after getting into the ground and falling out with a seat -very Benny Hillish

Anybody on here involved in the gun 'incident' at Swindon some years back?

Along with many others i was lobbed out by the over zealous and regularly discredited West Midlands force for the horrendous crime of singing chim chimenee during the early 80's cup replay. Had to pay to get back in again. Surely we must have good cause for compensation .

I remember going to Wolves in the 80's where a very old bloke was thrown out for waving his flask of tea at the home supporters.

Stopped entry from a little hitler at lats season's Anfield trip... admittely had been drunk... but he said i was adusive... and swearing in front of kids!Plod idsagreed with him but said there was nothing we could do... so suggested watch the match from the Arckles pub! where loads of kindly scousers took pity and bought me more beer!

Interestingly on way to Arkcles... one of the "home" stewards said he'd let me in... as long as i took my Rovers shirt off...

Said i'd rather die! :-)

My mate got arrested when Rovers played at St Andrews in 1984 after he spat on a coppers helmet. I drove a Ford Capri to that game with a pot on my left leg - nearly crashed half a dozen times!

Got away with it though didn't he? Maybe he could confirm that for us as he is a poster on here.
