I reckon Mimms will tell some interesting tales about the Ince era too, should be interesting.

Could do with a few more of you coming though if we are going to persevere with these nights, ticket sales very slow for this one so far.

Struggling to make this one due to work and car issues.

I would recommend these evenings to anybody, as they always turn out to be a good laugh

You'd think being a current member of the senior backroom staff as well as a member of the title winners would insure good attendance. Is there something else going on that evening that is drawing people's attention away? Since I'm 3300 miles away you understand my tardiness.

Can we pay on the door? That's what me and a friend were planning on doing and we missed the first two you put on due to childcare issues.

Sorry I cannot get over but I can back up that Bobbie Mimms is a very decent bloke and both funny and interesting to listen to.

My questions- what went wrong at the end of the 90/91 promotion season when King Kenny's all-conquering side went on a six game (was it?) losing streak and we just scraped into the play-offs? Did they listen to too much Danny Baker?

- how did he feel when Rovers signed Tim Flowers and how often did he thinj he should have been in the side in place of Flowers?

- how did he learn and train to become a specialist goal keeping coach? Is coaching other players a natural gift or is it something that can be taught?

- are the current crop of England goal keepers really absolute rubbish? Could he make a case for any of the current keepers ever being good enough to keep Shilton ot Clemmence out of the England side if we could transport those two to playing today by a time machine?

Filling up quite nicely now. Should be ok.

Glad to hear that Brownie.

On another note for another night - now that it would appear Sav is established in the Derby side and therefore staying in the country, do you think there's much chance of making that one happen?

WHERE WERE YOU ALL?

A very enjoyable evening was had by one third the audience that attended the Matt Jansen evening.

Bobby was great; on stage for two hours but only a handful of people there to enjoy and appreciate him.

I spoke to one chap who intimated that poor advertising was probably the reason why there were so few people there. He had only heard of it the day before from his mate.

Anyway, those of you who missed it missed a great time. I'll let others elaborate on the content.

Poor advertisising !?

I had it mentioned DURING 3 Rovers commentaries, on the back page of the telegraph, invited well over a thousand 'friends' on facebook, had it on the official Rovers website and advertised it at the front of the pub for a month !!

Lucky all that cost nothing.

To back you up though, Bobby was great, very funny bloke, and wasnt even expecting any fee, the next one is gonna be a top top name.

Told me some interesting very recent snippets about the Villa game etc

Talking of Sav stayed in the same hotel as the players in Krakow

Watched chelsea v barcelona sat next to sav and hughesy

Sav was funny, asking about property , investments etc

when we told him which bars we d been to etc...he was filled with jealousy, we ellaborated the stories which got him even more

animated

after the game he ran over to throw his shirt to us but the police stopped him getting too close

Just want to echo that it was a really good evening, even though the turn-out was quite low (certainly compared to the Jansen evening). What the hell are you all doing on a Tuesday night which is more interesting than this?

Well it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening I thought. As someone who only really remembers him playing the odd game when Flowers was injured it was interesting to hear the things from when he was our number 1 keeper. A some things I remember:

- he accepted that Flowers come in, as new players were coming in all of the time, but what he felt a bit aggrieved at was that he was put straight into the team. Having kept 19 clean sheets the previous season (oh how we'd love that now!!!) and 6 already that season, he would've accepted it better had Flowers come in as number 2, he make a mistake and be replaced.

- felt that in the first season in the Premiership we should've won at least one piece of silverware.

- despite not playing much in the Championship winning season he still felt a massive part of that team.

- his biggest regret is that he never played European football. When he was at Everton, English clubs were banned from Europe and when Rovers were in Europe Flowers was in goal.

- one of his most enjoyable games was the 7-1 win vs Norwich

- he didn't want to leave Rovers but when Shay Given became the number 2 keeper, he didn't want to be 3rd choice.

- was delighted when Ince invited him back to Rovers. He'd tried to come back on a couple of occasions but it hadn't happened.

- he was quite diplomatic about Ince, but said that he was a naive when it come to managing a PL team, perhaps leaving too many grey areas and expecting the players just to know what to do. He also said that his coaches weren't allowed to coach as much as they should have been. Why this was the case you'd have to ask Ince. Archie Knox said when he left that it wasn't the job he was expecting it to be.

- said that there aren't any primadonnas at Rovers and that they are a bit of a strange group in that they all want to come in and play football, which is not always the case nowadays. During the whole Roque saga, he never acted any differently, just carried on as normal.

- wasn't very happy that Robbo was not in the England squad.

- Tugay is about 58 years old, with the mentality of a 12 year old :D Therefore he reckons he'd make a good coach.

And he said that Roy Wegerle used to refuse to have a bath at Ewood before it was done up, claiming that it was a health hazard - so instead he'd walk back to his car after the game in his kit and shoes and have one at home :D

Quality evening, I really enjoyed it, and what a great guy Bobby Mimms is.
