Cocker
I too loved the previous fight night games (going back to the ps2 days too) There is nothing sweeter than ducking a punch and then landing a haymayker full on the chin. What we know about previous games is:- A clever bunch of people spent allot of time on the graphics A clever bunch of people spent allot of time on the gameplay A clever bunch of people spent allot of time on the sound and atmosphere When those same clever people finished doing their bits they handed the whole thing over to the company cat to complete the story and training mode which turns a game that could have got a 10 to a game that has a 7 or 8. As I understand it they have got their act together this time and things are looking up - though this is only hearsay and I have no idea what is in store really. It is still one I will be picking up though.
snatchymcsnatch
This is THE title I've been looking forward to this year. Hopefully they will build on R3 and put a decent career/training mode in this time. One of my major niggles last time was that you only had a set number of generic tunes you could pick for your entrance - this time around you can upload your own tunes which is great. Also Hatton and Pacquiao have been confirmed as being in the game - I would have hoped for a FIFA-esque skill system where the boxers real time stats are updated as they fight in real life but I don't think that's happening. Also downloadable new boxers would have been nice but I don't think these are in this time round. Still - can't wait for this one.

That bit didn't bother me because I always turned the entrances off. The loading times for this are long enough without waiting for them to walk down
Guest Kamy100
On the listen up (formerly known as 1up yours) podcast they talk about FNR4. One of the guys got to see the game this past week and said that he was impressed that the game ran at 60FPS (they demoed the PS3 version) and was told that the game engine was brand new and everything had been reworked. He confirmed that there was a HUD this time, although this can be turned off. The biggest thing that concerned me was that the blocking mechanism has been changed, whereas in FNR3 you could block 4 ways through using the analouge which was good because you could parry shots and launch your own attacks. However in FNR4 there are only 2 blocks that you can do (high and low) and this done by pressing 2 buttons on the controller, the more you block the less effective it becomes as you begin to lose stamina. To me this seems to be a bit "dumbed down" and I hope that the rest of the game isn't. They also talked a little bit about the career mode, in FNR4 if you have an attacking style your crowd favourite stats will increase, if however you are a more technical/defensive boxer then you will get higher technical stats but will not be a crowd favourite. They also talked about the Then interactive pre match entrances where you can pose and taunt your opponent. The winner of the pre match taunt off will have increased adrenaline and mean you start the match invincible for 30 seconds. Cocker
That blocking system does sound dumbed down doesn't it. It made sure that you couldn't just stand there blocking all the time and had to really watch where the punches were coming from. There is a reason I preferred this to wii boxing EA (slightly over the top there I know) EDIT - I think I now know why they have altered the blocking system. You can now sometimes hit your man even when he is blocking because your punch will sometimes get through if he is weak. Also when your throwing punches they wont always connect and can sometimes bounces of the shoulder. I have read that Ewbank is in it - brilliant. I pick Tyson and the computer can be Euwbank - and I will play that match on the easiest setting
