PAFELL Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 just wondering if anyone is going to Blues Bar this thursday, should be quite a interesting night...£5 ticket and first pint free if ticket bought in advance My wife and I are hoping to get there for this - we are travelling from the south coast for the pompey game - we travel up tomorrow and hope we get there on time. Should be a good night.
Blueandwhitemike Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I'd love to go if there was anyone driving up from Manchester
brightonrover Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I have just been a bit dim but was yesterday the first sign of any advertising for an event tonight?! Might have gone with a bit of advance notice. It wouldn't stop me going to Brownie's nights at the Hordens though.
roversmum Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 They've been advertising it for weeks, in the LT, posters round the ground, programme, emails, on Official Site, etc. It's the first fundraising event for the new association for past players, hoping to be able to raise funds to help ex-players in need amongst other things. Mr Roversmum and I will be there.
Ozz Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Any funny and /or interesting anecdotes from those whom attended this last night?
AggyBlue Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Couldn't understand a word Gally said. Jason still bears the scars from the stick he got from the Riverside. Hang your heads in shame Riversiders. Said he got far worse at Leeds though.
AggyBlue Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Was it a good turn out for the event? About 50 or 60. Nice and intimate
LWX Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Jason still bears the scars from the stick he got from the Riverside. Hang your heads in shame Riversiders. He was the man who filled the boots of scott sellars, always gonna be a tough job.
cn174 Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 About 50 or 60. Nice and intimate Thought it was a few more than that, not that it really matters. I thought it was a good evening. Both of them were pretty open with all their answers. Few good stories from the team that won the league - Sherwood putting a bus window through for example. Few things that I remember: - neither of them reckoned any of the current team would get into the championship winning team (which isn't so much of a surprise) - worst trainers were Shearer and batty - Wilcox doesn't think much of Pedersen - felt that the best all round manager was Hodgson although the package of Dalglish and Harford was better - neither wanted to leave Rovers. Wilcox said that wit Duff coming through the ranks and the offer from Leeds was too good to refuse. Gallacher wasn't happy with going from 1st choice striker to 5th and that is why he moved. Both still live in the area. One thing I didn't know about Gallacher is that he comes from a family of footballers and one of the reasons why he had to come down to England was because had he stayed in Scotland he'd always just have been known as the grandson of Patsy Gallacher.
stuwilky Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Wonder where they got this idea from ?????? They did a series of "audience with...." a few years ago in the Premier Suite ;-)
alexanders Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 - worst trainers were Shearer and batty Now a manager. Pity.

I thought that was funy what was said by Jason about Paul Gasgoinge (spelling) I was surprised that they both said Hodgson was the best manager/trainer they had trained under - bar Daglish & harford.
