I am not neccessarily happy, but Sam is the Manager, I want to see total football, passing, wide play, pace and quality, however, I am not the Manager and he must be allowed to do things the way he wants to, he stands or falls by his decisions, for example, if he signed the players we as supporters wanted and we got relegated, who gets the sack???

Whatever we think, we shall see how things pan out, we are lacking in pace and that will have to be addressed but Sam is no mug and I think even if he signs Davies, there will be another striker as well as Di Santo coming in, of that I am almost sure!!

I'm personally happy with the news. I think if we can get Davies on a reasonable sum then he really will be a good part of our system. For whatever reason, he was such a huge waste of money in the past. However, I just think he is such a solid player at what he does which is the basic, old fashioned English forward. No complaints from me as long as he's only coming in alongside a bigger name who carries some sort of re-sale value.

Davies is underrated, last season he was close to the England squad. My only concern is his age. If we do sign him, I hope the fee is at least on par with, or below Grella's. Because he has no resale value.

He's not the donkey we signed all those years ago, though.

No , he's an older Donkey.

Someone please tell me why some people have got such a big problem with KD?

All that's been said is "he's 32!" "he was sh*t last time round" "it's bolton Mk2!" that's about it.

face it, KD is better than any striker we currently have (Santa Cruz not included because he's off down the road)

yeh he's 32 and he's at the top of his game. Look at last years performances.

We might play unattractive football, but its our football club, if you wanna watch "sexy" football then Arsenal should be on bbc 1 at 10.30 every saturday ;)

Would you complain about "huff ball" if it got us in to Europe?

Loads of reasons, just a few:

1. He's not worth the money we will likely have to pay out, when you consider his age, nationality (English player= inflated value) and his ability. Bolton won't want to sell and if we receive the sort of fee that's believed for Roque then they will add a few million on.

2. It sends out a bad message to our fans. Its looking like we are going to lose our best striker and the fans will want to see either a well known name coming in or someone who is being touted as a future star/has potential. He is neither of those.

3. It makes us look like a complete laughing stock in the league. We replace an £18 million pound valued striker with Kevin Davies. i can guarantee you now that almost every football messageboard will be taking the ###### out of us.

Anoher thing, didnt he sign a new Bolton deal half way through last season ?

He did... A very very good point!

I will repeat though. How would Gamst, Davies and Diouf fit into the same squad?

Any chance we can have a vote about the Davies issue, i think it deserves a topic just as much as Mr X...

The club has stated that there will be 2 strikers coming in after Derbs has gone. so there still might be a big name signing (stranger things have happened)

Big Sam will probably believe that Davis will make a difference and hopefully with scoring a few goals will get the fans back on his side.

So? let 'em take the p*ss, if he fails and does sh*t then we will be a laughing stock. We've been one before and we've recovered.

But if he does well; then they will have nothing to laugh about.

Please for once (not singling you out mate) Look on the bright side

There's only so many times you can recover from things though. Signing him sends out the wrong kind of messages at a time when we are really pushing our season tickets to those on the fringes. I'm just hoping Mr Nixon is either on a wind up or he's misheard the rumours. Fortunately he doesn't get everything right. Unfortunately there's enough correct information in his posts to make you very worried.

Can't see it happening...We vilified Davies and it was the lowest part of his career - from his point of view, why on earth would he come back?

Big Sam?

But this is the opportunity to put things right, any player worth his salt would love the opportunity to prove he was worth his highest transfer fee. I think Davies would see that as a huge incentive to transfer and with Sam onside, you can see why he would return. Besides, he is a very different player nowadays, not necessarily physically or technically but mentally. He really will not get pushed around and it seems he knows where the back of the net is now.

Davies in, time for the board to step down.... were we not relegated last time around with Davies on board.

Fully hope this is a wind up from Nicko, or that big Sam is so peed off with the lack of money that this is his own way of getting back at the board.

Hoping this is a smokescreen or maybe possibly our transfer targets will change once (if) the Roque transfer goes through..

Just to put things another way, if,in any occupation or even at a casino, if you found a system which was successful, surely you would use the system again wouldnt you?

Kevin Davies has grown up at Bolton and indeed scored a few goals and probably had more than his fair share of assists too!!

His game now is so different than when he was previously at Ewood and Sam gave him that part to his game, I do feel that if he gets the right players around him and at the right money, then fine, I can tell you that he was being 'talked up' big time on match of the day last year, I think Hansen said he was the best player of his kind in England!!

Nicko mentioned that we'd want two strikers in before we sold Derbyshire. If Davies and Di Santo come in to replace Derbs then id have no complaints, provided that davies is no more then £2m. He's a useful player but nothing more.

If Davies is the Santa Cruz replacement then thats a different story. I do not want Davies to become our stand out signing of the summer.

Although, If we could swap Roberts for Davies id be very happy with that. Davies is a boring, dull, beige player but he can score far more frequently then Blobby.

Also i cant see why Davies would come, what can we offer that Bolton cant? Other than Sam?? Diouf was one thing but Davies would be a step too far in the wrong direction. When we reached Europe with Sparky we did it with flair and skill and although i appreciate that we cannot simply expect that to happen again and that results are the most important thing, we now have the money to get decent enough players in order to not resort to the old Bolton ways. Please please dont let us become what Bolton were two or three years ago.

I bloody would. We loose a young up and coming England U21 at the expense of a loan player and a 32 year old player we virtually gave away on a free ages back...

How anyone could be pleased with this is crazy!

If it was a club you loved or supported, then yes you would, can't say either of those apply to Davies.

Also at 32 I can see little difference between this and the Fowler signing to be honest - especially if a sizeable fee is involved.

2million or less - fair enough , anything over is suicide.
