Im not sure if this has been posted any where else but I've just seen on SSN that Bentley has been punched in the face whilst having a meal with his pregnant Mrs, I would shake the persons hand that did it! Any one going to own up to it?

I am ashamed to admit it............but it wasn't me.

The bloke is in a restaurant with his pregnant wife and some clown comes up and banjos him totally out of the blue? You want to shake that idiots hand? That's not on mate no matter how much you dislike him. FFS - he's a footballer who had his head turned by Spurs - not Hitler.

Totally agree. If you can't sit in a restaurant and have a quiet meal with friends and family then things really are coming to a pretty pass.

Too true. I can't believe anyone would condone this sort of behaviour, because lo' and behold he wanted to join a more glamorous club in a more glamorous location. People should try unhooking the blue & white specs now and again.

Most of the idiots in this world would be happy about such a situation.

But if you think punching a man, who is out for a meal with his pregnant wife is something to gloat or be happy about, then you have just told us all what type of person YOU are.

You children should really have a think about what you type before you post on here.

We're talking about a game here, and a man who decided to leave our club with many compliments for the fans and staff, to earn more money in a much nicer environment. And you think he deserves to be punched in the face when having a quiet meal?

Its that kind of attitude that see's our local towns in the state they're in.

Punching someone, anyone, is unacceptable behaviour and I hope the bloke that did it gets done for it. Bentley may not be our favourite player on the planet but wishing him harm (or anyone else for that matter) is childish and plain silly.

Disgusting behaviour that cannot and should not ever be condoned. To attack someone just because he is a good football player. I would be appalled to see this ever happen. Bentley was a fantastic player for us and did not really say anything bad about us. He just had his head turned by those England groupies. Hope that is was no Rovers fan anyway. Would love to have him back here.

Haha, Bentley fully deserves it.

For what reason? I am intrigued. A football player gives us a couple of fantastic years of service, gets sold on for a massive profit and you think it is acceptable for him to be assaulted in front of his heavily pregnant girlfriend? And people wonder why the country is in the state its in

I am truly shocked by some people's opinions on this messageboard. As most have stated before me, it is a disgrace that a footballer can't sit down and have a nice lunch with his pregnant girlfriend without being punched in the face. And to those who seriously mean it is an okey action to do so, you fully lack moral and you should really try doing something with your mind-set.

Bentley gave us a lot of good times, and if he wanted to move to Spurs then so be it. He might think that move was a good move for his national career, or football career in general. He probably also had an agent who wanted to earn some good money and talked Bentley into it. Yes he has a big head, but he is 24-25 yrs old!

Get a grip people.

Its not right for someone to just punch Bentley whilst sat there having a meal.

Hopefully Bentley moves on soon and gets his career back on track. Its a shame that he probably wouldnt come back to the Rovers.

David had his head turned, like many before him. It's been a hard lesson for the lad, but hopefully he will have learned from it.

He's a nice lad, and no way should this kind of attack be condoned.

because I wanted to do the exact same thing whilst watching him half-cut tell the world he wanted to move, and that he had outgrown BRFC.

Players have there own minds, and if anyone thinks he left because of an agent you must be having a laugh..

I can understand why people get frustrated with footballers. People WORK all week to essentially pay the inflated wages of the egotistical prats, and they stick two fingers up at the earliest oppertunity. This frustration then manifests itself in different ways.

Personally I don't really like violence, but I do firmly believe there massive wages represent danger money, and footballers have to accept that their actions and the way they conduct themselves impact upon peoples lives (in varying degrees) and some people loose the plot.

I doubt it was a random attack as such and I'm sure there is more to the story..there usually is..

Also, somebody said when he left, he heaped praise on the club etc??, did I miss that then? Maybe he didn't shout it as loud as be did when he made us look like mugs on SSN saying he wanted out..the greedy berk wouldn't stick in an official transfer

request, just so be could bleed a final payday out of us, the paying fans.

My main point is he should think about what he says/does and realise that the industry he his in makes him vulnerable to this sort of beef.

Regardless of Bentley's past with us, nobody deserves to get punched in the face by a random bellend for no reason.

If there's more to the story then fair enough, but if the guy did it because of a grudge related to football he's a grade A d1ckhead.
