Brilliant. So much nicer watching England without having to support the likes of Rooney, Gerrard and Ferdinand and Terry!

Is there a single person wanting Rooney to come back into that team, apart from maybe Roy!

Think there will be a couple of 65 year old French ladies of the night that are hoping he will be at the Tournament

Well blimey! That was great! Superb.

From a betting angle it all came together on that one. Not big bucks but never the less...

Kane to score anytime. Germany to win - cashed out at 2 1. And immediately had a quid on England to draw... And then cashed out again to back England to win! 1.30 paid 7 quid + on that.

Next week I'll tell you all about my losses...

Incredible comeback from England there, with two sensational goals by Vardy and Kean. And arguably the best striker, Sturridge, didn't even start. And Walcott and Welbeck are top class too in my books.

And so what a tragedy it will be when all this gets sacrificed for the slow, boring, predictable, sluggish, hopeless play around Rooney, who in his wildest dreams will never match the effectiveness of Kean and Vardy tonight. And even worse is Sterling, who has pace but nothing else, can't score on a barn door. How can Hodgson possibly ever justify holding back the above-mentioned 5 in order to play his favorite useless duo of Rooney and Sterling is beyond me.

This. Well said.

Guatemala 2 0 USA; must be a very bad result.

So, in their group of qualifiers, they also drew Trinidad and Tobago 0-0; they beat I think Grenada 6-1.. but that is a pretty weak showing and the news articles confirm that.

Klinsmann era has been a failure and it's time for him to go

Fantastic second half performance. It's only a friendly but I can't remember the last time we played this well against a top international team in friendlies or in a tournament. We could should leave Rooney at home and be no worse better off.

Hope you don't mind my little alteration.

By the way he is called Kane not Kean!

Goddamn referee and commentators (whistle was from crowd, whistle was from referee, clowns) probably cost Madrid the game and more importantly my bet! Idiot!

Real kick in teeth if Barcelona win now at least I'll still get something if its a draw.

Great he's sent Ramos off now.

EDIT-Bloody hell never thought I would be glad of Christiano Ronaldo's existence.

Still can't stand him tho money or not.

Oh my days what a match!

To think I had considered not betting on Madrid because of Ronaldo! Guess it was an extension of my "no bets on Man United" rule (him being a major ex player) but fortunately I ignored it! Even if this ref gifts Barcelona an equaliser I'll win something.

They got turfed out of the Olympics by Colombia last week as well.

  • 3 weeks later...

20/1 for a draw at the moment...hardly appalling value for a small bet is it? Even if Gijon are rock bottom (or presumably close) sometimes goalkeepers have an unbelievable game and one chance leads to a goal. They beat Atletico Madrid only a few weeks back.

Suarez up to his usual sly cheating again. 1-0 Barca.

He bagged another 4 tonight. The second time in a week. An amazing talent. But a complete nutter.

Barcelona, Real, and Atletico are quality sides. They are 20+ points ahead of Villareal in 4th. Overall though I don't think that La Ligament has the competition or quality of the premier league.

It has more quality among the top teams; Barca, Real and Atletico are better than all Premier League teams. Will see more of Villareal in the next couple of weeks or so but they must be a really good team, then you've got Europa League kings Sevilla plus Valencia (not with Gaz Nev) etc.

Unfortunately, the Champions League creates this inequity of three or four teams dominating every league across Europe. They have the funds to attract them and all the top players want to play there. That's why it's so interesting to have Leicester in the mix this year, to break the oligopoly; although it will probably be short lived. It will depend on whether the Leicester own really wants to go for it with the Champions League; whether his team can convince the agents of the players he wants to play there; but, most importantly, whether FFP will allow him.

Leicester fans are living the dream at the moment, and I'd much rather their fans had that than the entitled Spurs ones (although I think last week's referee has intervened subjectively and handed Spurs the title, sadly). FFP could well put a stop to those dreams.

As far as I'm concerned if an owner wants to cover the costs of taking fans on the rise of a lifetime then, providing it can be guaranteed that it won't be an albatross around the club's neck when he leaves, then he should be able to do it. I'm far more concerned about the kind of ownership that the Glazers are allowed to have, which the rules seem to have be written to specifically allow.

Yea those three are all comfortably better than any English side. This year Villareal have been really good, and are a fair bit ahead in 4th, but usually Sevilla and Valencia are right up there as well. Then it's just who is better at the time, or having a particularly good season, out of the likes of Malaga, Bilbao, Sociedad etc. These are all good sides who usually do well in Europe.

The fact there could realistically be two all-Spanish finals in the European competitions this season means they obviously do have the quality. I'm not sure what can be more competitive than three teams at the top within a point of each other with three teams to go, and the bottom half teams I would say are about par with their English counterparts, who for the most part are average at best.

You might get more upsets in England in terms of the top sides losing to the lesser ones, but that's only because the top 3 in Spain are better sides. Put them against mid or bottom half English clubs and they would win comfortably.
