Anyone else attend last night?

Key Points from JW @ the awards dinner

  • Longest stay in top flight since 1936
  • 10 years in August since Jack died – just before he did – we were in the championship on our last parachute payment & he told JW “Go for it”.
  • In those 10 years we have reached 7 semi-finals.
  • Attendances up 8% - which when you take out the reduced away support, the actual home fans attendance is a much higher increase.
  • Following the new 3 year TV deal – we are now officially back on a trading basis, with no need to sell anyone for any amount of money!
  • Jones has signed a new 5 year deal – Finally JW said “The Futures Bright, The futures Blue n White”.

Awards went to:

Player of the Season – NZONZI

Players Player of the Season – GIVET

Goal of the Season – OLSSON @ Villa

Newcomer of the Year – SALGADO

Young Player of the Year – KALINIC

Unsung Hero of the Year – SAMBA

Most MOM’s – DUNN

Special Contribution Award for 6 years service – MGP

Performance of the Season – JONES against Chelsea

A final farewell?

Emerton has been here longer and played more games, so I hope that's what it was...

Could be - showing when he signed, and his goals over the years etc - reminded me of the Tugay farewell at last years event. I asked him if he was staying and he said he doesnt know what will happen yet... :unsure:

Thanks for the info. I'm glad Olsson won GOTS. He deserved it for that effort. And it's no surprise the players voted Givet - they're scared stiff of him!

Btw, Hughesy, I thought you were gonna ask Big Sam want he sees in Andrews? ;)

very cool. Sounds like good news from JW. Hopefully it's true.

I still really wish we had given the top honor to Andrews or something, not one of our exciting your prospects. For obvious reasons.

As for the guy in the first photo it looks like Linganzi too me, not certain though.

Not sure about the second but he looks like a big lad!

Givet brings a new style of awesome to the photos.

Oh and Basturk wasnt there either!! Not sure if that tells a story or not.......

As for Diouf not being there, I reckon there's something more significant going on than just tonsillitis.

That would keep him out of the last two games, fair enough, but missing the players' awards as well...?

I wonder whether he's back in Senegal for this female assault case and the tonsillitis is a smoke screen from Rovers.

Especially funny to see Salgado clutching a pint of Thwaites' Smooth. An adopted Lancastrian already.

Supporter of the season award to the kid with the autograph book! Odd that he was on his own. He had the place to himself. I'm sure that there'd have been more than that when we were in the 3rd Div.
