Baz
If true, this will make Blackpools battle to stay up even harder. As a newcomer to the league you must get off to a good start, and this will not help at all.

Manchester Blue
First game being switched to the away is confirmed on BBC. However the Fulham game is not moving the club have confirmed so we will not be the first home game for them.
champions1995
I remember something similar to this in the 2005-06 season, when Coventry City had to play their first three games of the season away from home as they waited for the completition of the Ricoh Area. It's not really ideal for Blackpool who originally had a very winnable home game and now face a far tougher test away. A trip to the DW Stadium may not appear the toughest away game in the premier league, but the performances of newly promoted clubs in recent years away from home (Burnley, West Brom, Stoke examples) has been very poor. In a season which will be tough enough as it is, Blackpool don't want to play catch up from the off and rely soley on their form at Bloomfield Road. john.leigh
I remember going to watch the Rovers at Blackpool with my Dad in the late 70's when Bob Hatton was playing for the Tangerines. Before kick off Hatton was given an award for scoring three hat tricks that season..... & then went on to get another hat trick against us! Before kick off Hatton was given an award for scoring three hat tricks that season..... & then went on to get another hat trick against us! The seasiders doubled us a number of times including that season when they went down and we finished 5th. We lost 5-2 at Bloomfield Road that day and got given a right hammering. We doubled them in 79/80 which I think is the last time we played them in competitive games. Howard Kendall with a magnificent header at Bloomfield Road which I think we won 2-0 and we beat them 2-0 at Ewood in front of 14,000+ when we were on that great Cup run- the Villa tickets went on sale that day. wellesbourne
The annual Easter fair became a battleground, not a fairground. for many years. Yes I remember those days too. Usually Burnley all over the fairground going off as the bloke on tge speedway was doing his 'scream if you wanna go faster' - surreal. Used to walk back to Mill Hill in those days with my old man as the away fans used to try and break the escorts as the Rovers lads would gather at strategic locations on the way back to the station - green park / mill hill flats to name a but a couple. Remember it going off on Green Park one day vs Bolton and some old fellas on the bottom green giving them merry hell for breaking up their game. The fight just seemed to stop out of respect and then recommence on the edge of the green as the old fellas just carried on their game. As many have said - a much safer place nowadays - but as a kid growing up was always exciting to see as long as you weren't that close to it. Darwen Rover
Glad it's not the 60s / 70s / 80s is alls I say.. Sorry to put a different slant on this conversation but my view is the reason for tribalist behaviour is actually cowardly in the respect that u are comforted / motivated by showing off to others and feel safe in a group.. Bravoury is individualism and fighting alone against the odds.. But some would also cool this Plain stupid!! Anyway like I said thank god for the demise of the hooligan culture at matches.. And the transformation to a more family culture

D-side17
I've done a quick search on the forum but couldn't see that this question had been asked/answered previously so I thought that this seemed the most appropriate thread on which to ask it: Has the club given any idea yet as to how they will determine eligibility for tickets to the Blackpool away game? Is it likely to be based on purchasing history for last season's away games or for this season? My concern is that I can't make the Birmingham away game and so I'll only have been to one away game this season (Man City) before the Blackpool game. If it's based on last year, I'll be fine. Anyone have any ideas? Cheers in advance

only2garners
Last seasons games will be taken into account.....ST holders 1st I'm pretty sure it will be season ticket holders only, not just first. Allocation based on being a season ticket holder this year with a record of attendance at away games last year. Man City game will not count as Blackpool tickets will be on sale before then. Ozz
Ticket Update Allocation of 1,931-£34- As the new season is in its infancy, eligibility will be based on CURRENT Season Ticket Holders who, according to our database, have attended THREE OR MORE League away matches LAST SEASON. roversmum
Seems fair to me. I attended every away match except one last season, and given the fare on offer (not to mention the weather) it was a labour of love, I can tell you.

mhead
With our fixtures pre-November this and Fulham have become 'must win' matches....otherwise we are marooned on 3 points with a horrific October to come. 5,6 or 9 points have to be our minimum achievement by end September.Blackpool is a true test of our new Away form.
