Tyrone Shoelaces
This squad IS one of the worst in the league, fantastic management from Allardce ensured we progressed year on year, not the quality of the players. Make no mistake, without decent reinforcements this month we are in for a hard slog. I'm with you. Our midfield especially central midfield is at the moment the weakest in the league. Of course when Ronaldiniho arrives our problems will be over.
thenodrog
So the table lies? We are 4pts up on this point last season...with money to spend to strengthen and not in the bottom 3.....I think your view is somewhat biased to fit your arguement. Time will tell. Hughesy it isnt an argument, its an assessment, which at this moment in time is pretty accurate. Said it before the january transfer window is critical to ensuring Rovers premier league status. But the important thing is that this money has to be spent wisely, yet this is going to be done by a complete unknown with absolutely no previous experience. the original david brent
Would you have felt compelled to post a similar thread had Allardyce been in charge? Because we’d have had a similar, if not worse, return in terms of point had he been so, in my opinion? On what basis do you form this opinion, other than presumably a general dislike of Allardyce?! I happen to think we would have beaten West Ham under Allardyce, and either beaten or drawn with Stoke. I form this opinion on the basis that we had won our last 3 home games under Allardyce, and our home record has been great in the last 2 years under him. I also think we would have beaten West Brom under Allardyce. Allardyce had a good record against the bottom 14 teams in the league, the facts speak for themselves. Why it would have been any different against the last 4 teams we have played? We have been utterly woeful in the last 4 games under this new regime, and got very lucky at west brom. Against Sunderland, the way we played reminded me of the Paul Ince era, and we all know what league he was taking Rovers to! I think we will be in a relegation battle in a months time, after defeats to Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs. But wait..... Mrs Rao, with all her football expertise, will put in a token bid for Ronaldinho, tweet about it on twitter to generate some publicity to increase chicken sales, and everything will be fine and dandy, and we will be in the champions league. jim mk2
The relegation battle just got that much harder with the latest news from Pune over Kean's new contract. Looking on the bright side, presumably he will be still in charge to lead the promotion charge next season.
philipl
Beckham, Ronaldinho, Adam, Santa Cruz, Duff. Apart from motivating the opposition to show they are better than these names, who at Rovers is going to put the tackles in?

Got even harder last night, after the heavy defea...oh yeah, that's right, we battered Liverpool and are up to 8th/9th. Talk of relegation right now is just as stupid as talking about Champions League.

Mattyblue
Exactly JAL, keep calm heads everyone. Let's get those 12 points in the bag as quickly as possible then I will certianly doff my cap to Kean.
RevidgeBlue
Twelve more points to relative safety. We should be able to do that even with no midfield. Right jim. Are you going to start the "Can Steve Kean qualify us for the Europa League thread?" now?
47er
Kean has had 5 games. We were abysmal in 3 and only got 1 point and terrific in 2 where we won both handsomely. So how to sum that up? Wait and see? Cautious optimism? Certainly not thinking about Europe at the minute. However, we are 3 or 4 players away from being a good side and at last have some money to spend. Get the right players and I think top 10 is very likely which is good enough for now.
Martin
We could well qualify for Europe. We could well be relegated. You'd be an idiot to discount either. Strange, strange league this season.
mick
Can't wait to hear Keane moaning about those teams that don't play football, are very physical and can only score from set pieces. The League should take steps to protect we footballing teams against the "hoof" ball specialists.
