Wilky
just watching pointless and they had a question on where the contestants had to name the last name of English football teams... we were under rovers but if the BBC actually did some research they would know our full name is Blackburn Rovers & Athletic..(see website) so which one should we come under.. rovers or athletic? wilyrover
Not sure we're even called Blackburn Rovers. The early reports from our formation call us Rovers F.C. of Blackburn. Wouldn't it be great if there was an original record of the formation meeting in the St Leger Hotel in 1975 and it could be made available. Then we would know the answer. Robbo from Pitcorthie Just checked out where Pitcorthie is on google maps (cos i don`t know it) & found 'Wardlaw Crescent'.....my nan`s family name (before marriage) My dad has been looking up his family name now for a few years, & he`s found the 'Wardlaw association'. Apparently the Wardlaws` were land owners in Fife hundreds of years ago, but my Grandad always said they were nothing but a bunch of sheep rustlers A lot of my dad`s family still live around Dunfirmline, Valleyfield, Toryburn & Saline. bluebruce
A lot of my dad`s family still live around Dunfirmline, Valleyfield, Toryburn & Saline. My contact lenses live in that last one. As somebody has stated, we are Blackburn Rovers Football and Athletic Club. PLC. Far as I see it, Blackburn Rovers is the name, Football and Athletic Club is what we are (as are many other clubs). Along with the PLC. Think that answers the original post. The one question it does perhaps raise is, are we Blackburn Rovers F.C., or are we Blackburn Rovers F.A.C.? Ricky
I know this was always a common quiz question but I never thought about adding dons to the list for mk dons. Surely that would have been a winning answer on pointless.
Wilky
dons was a very low answer if I remember rightly

Neil Weaver
plc = Public Limited Company . Don't know if it's quite the same legally, but it's a similar abbreviation to 'inc' in the US.
