[Archived] Are Rovers' the most disliked team around?

Recommended Posts

Every media or fans veiw of our once famous and historical club is negative to say the very least. What Venky's/Anderson have done in 5 months to a club which until now (1875 - 2011) yep that's a 136 years old, was proud, is absolutely disgusting!! Most folk couldn't care less and would love to see us relegated!!

Please post your thoughts on this topic because i for one feel let down, hurt, angry, etc........ How do you feel???

I feel amused as much as anything. Personally I've never given 2 hoots what anyone else thinks about Rovers, why should we care? However many of the Allardyce haters seemed slightly obsessed with how the media and opposition fans viewed the image of Rovers our style of play had created. They even went as far as to begin mimicking the views of our worst critics, copying media-invented phrases like hoofball and banging on about Allardyce spoiling our reputation for playing football the right way. So they wanted him out to improve our image and now what have we got, a total PR nightmare and the rest of England wanting us to go down

We have NEVER got the repsect we deserve.

Clubs like Forest, wolves, West Brom, Derby, Villa, Everton, even the flmaing Dingles are seen as hitorical 'proper' clubs, whilst I feel we have been compared to the 'likes of' Wigan, Boro et al.

Fact, we have won trophies in 3 centuries.

Fact, we are the only club to have won he FA Cup 3 times on the trot

Fact, we had won the Cup FIVE times before Liverpool had even been thought of!

Fact, we are the most succesful town club in the history of British football.

Unfortunately because the club went into decline after the World Cup win of 1966 and only arrived back and flourished in the big time because of Jack, we have been mocked without thought for years.

We were however well repsected in the game itself, no longer.

The biggest fact of them all, what have Rovers done which ManU, Spurs,Burnley, Chelsea can never emulate?

One of a handful of clubs to be founder members of both the Football League and Premier League!

Who gives a toss what other people think? I really appreciated the Millwall anthem of 'No one likes us, we don't care'.

If we irritate the rest by sticking around well let's revel in that irritation. Time to stop whining about our owners, manager or players and unite against the common enemy. After the season closes we can think again but now there has to be one thought. Rovers against the rest!

I've wondered for years why exactly sponsors pay gazillions to have their name on MU shirts. It baffles me. MU may be the best supported club in the land but far far more people hate em than like them. Personally I never bought anything with Sharp on it for every year their name was associated with MU, and it was one of the reasons that I changed away from Vodaphone.

PLEASE stop posting club harming shyte like this,it does nobody any good.

Rovers have a very proud history and tradition, make no mistake....the club and fans can hold their heads high!

C'mon SG..... even I'm going off em!

Only three of us..................Rovers, Everton and Villa.

Also, as someone else has already pointed out, ManU, Spurs and Chelsea can never emulate (in our life times) winning major trophies in THREE different centuries.

What a magnificent club we are! Stuff the Mirror and all the other rags.

We've been hated since Jack tried to sign Gary Lineker. The Press didn't like that and they liked it even less when we stopped the Stretford Rags winning the league in 95.

They'll leave us alone when we sink back into obscurity for the foreseeable at the end of the season.

The only club to be a founder member of both the footbll League and permier league and win them both.

That sounds better.

Hatred and envy - two sides of the same coin. Rovers are the most envied club for all the reasons listed above. Personally, I think we are "hated" because we are the last great link to the past (the past being the dominance of the North-West/Lancashire in sport, culture and history), a past that is despised by the Southern based media and FA and something they have longed to whitewash to ease the weight of those very heavy chips. The fact we are still lurking around in the Prem irks them greatly, thus we suffer from unfair criticism, are labelled as bullies or hoofballers, NEVER get the rub of the green etc. all of which is spread via column inches to gullible football followers (not fans).

I would love to see us wind them up more; say have a brass band march out before kick-off and play Dvorak's largo from the New World Symphony (the "Hovis tune") and have the players wear really long shorts and practice with those big, heavy, leather balls. I can just see the veins throbbing in their heads and several cardiac arrests in the press box!:lol:

I am certain we have never been liked, it's not just now. Even my girlfriend who is totally new to football has picked up on the fact that "jeez they just don't like you lot do they?" She even notices the slewed commentaries, how a miss by a Rooney et al is unlucky but a similar miss by us is a horrible miss. Yes a total neutral and newcomer picks up on the media dislike of us. Well for this reason we must stay in the prem the more we pee em off the better.

Are we the most disliked team around?

No, I don`t think people really bother or take much notice tbh.

We don`t have a label or stigma around our club like 'dirty' Leeds, Man United`s sheep or Millwall. We`re just 'little Blackburn' & we shouldn`t be where we are.
