Or at least thats what the independent says.....

Hopefully Venkys & Steve Kean can ensure we keep hold of our best young talent....along with Hoilett & Olsson!!

No young player with so much as half a brain cell will see any future under Kean or Venky's.

Pains me terribly to say that but as things stand the future at Rovers is unbelievably grim whether we stay up or not.

I like how 'investment' in football parlance means chuck a load of money down the drain on obscene player wages and aggent fees and lose money hand over fist.

p.s If we stay up, what makes you say that phil?

I'm glad The Walkers Trust are gone years of under investment whould have eventually led to our downfall IMO.

I'm amazed we survived so long, I think we should have been a Championship team a few years ago, really lucky that a RISK in Hughes turned to pure gold, and Williams was smart enough to get Sam who is proven to take teams with no ambition financially and do a decent job.

I don't miss them, the day I see some decent investiment I'll be a very happy fan.

Dont hold your breath then and more importantly, which players of a decent standard would now want to join the Circus which is now Rovers under Venkys and Kean?

Anyone who thinks Jones will play his whole career here is an idoit. honestly, im proud that a player born in the area, has come through our youth academy into the first team and made an impact at such an early age, adding to the fact he is highly regareded by the big teams and the national set up. its a credit to the academy. Jones was always going to go to a bigger team eventually because his ability deserves it. i think another 2-3 years here will benifit him greatly. anything from 10-15 million is not good enough given the fact that we apparently dont need to sell. but 20 million plus would be hard to turn down given the fact that only the top defenders get transfered for over that figure.

a move to arsneal would benifit him now, due to the fact he would play every week. where as he would be playing a waiting game at Chelsea and Man U. Liverpool and spurs can get lost he is to good for them.

well thanks to The Walkers Trust investment we have a 33 year old Jason Roberts, 32 year old Benjani, a young Kalinic that currently is shooting in an empty in training so he must be really turning heads and a loanie Diouf who could barely score in a broffel.

I would say our current strike force is worth, say, 2 or 3 million combined.

Aiming for a 14 million pound striker who's got 22 goals in 30 games in one of the top leagues in the world is not a bad start.

that will do lol (whether its true will see)

Nothing in that article that said he wants to move, just said that Arsenal play the best football, he also said that he wants to win things, we have won just as much as Arsenal in the past 5 years. :brfcsmilie:

correct. he's just giving honest answers to questions.

no bids yet = nothing worry about (yet).

They could just as easily have headlined the same article as "Young Blackburn star hints that Arsene Wenger would be welcomed as Rovers new manager".

You clearly have no comprehension of what the word investment means.... the Walker trust were propping the club up and trying to make it sustainable for the long term. They left the day to day running of the club to a well respected and an extremely talented football management team.

Jack Walker and his trust ploughed in and then subsequently wrote off many millions, far, far more than you will ever see from Venky's, that I promise you! Under them it was a great time for Rovers and its supporters, they have left a fantastic legacy... I’d suggest that your amazement is down to the fact that you can't appreciate that you need more than money to be a successful football club these days – a problem a lot of fans have (especially the younger end of the spectrum).

But if you think Venky's £5m investment and hands on football expertise is better than what the Trust had to offer you really haven't been paying attention.

Do you think we will make 40 points this season? If not what is going to change next season? Beckham, Messi? I'd rather know the truth than listen to the whims of fantasists and their incompetent puppet.

But by all means don't let me stop you....

You can't blame the clubs, too many good players happy to warm the bench on big money is the problem.

It's not about playing all the time for some of these players, the odd appearance and a nice car will do.

[/qYou mean a nice seven or eight cars.

It`s a crazy situation really, how can any team other than the top 4 have a chance to build a squad to do anything when as soon as a new starlet comes into view there snapped up by the bright lights of the top 4. Pathetic really. :(

Phil Jones is too young and too inexperienced to move on yet, and I think he is sensible enough to realise that. He needs to put in a sold 2 or 3 years as a regular in the Rovers first team where he will develop into a much better player than moving now to a "big" club where he will quite likely sit on the bench. Wright-Phillips is a good example of a player who did not develop properly because he never got enough game time at Chelsea.

The proviso of course is if we are relegated Rovers may have to sell.

Wright-Phillips is not as young as you think he is, he was nearly 24 years old when he signed for Chelsea.

All clubs are feeder clubs for the few at the top and it's been that way (apart from the glorious Jack Walker years) since the abolition of the maximum wage in the 1960s. A Europe-wide salary cap would go some way to creating a "level playing field" but is unlikely to happen because of the collective power of those top few clubs and the reluctance of football's authorities to challenge that power.

If / when Jones leaves I would prefer him to join any club other than Arsenal - cannot abide the club or its supporters. Chelsea would be pretty depressing too.

A salary cap is unworkable

what would it be based on? % of turnover = big clubs get bigger or a maximum amount = a return to UTTP = big clubs still get bigger

Even worse really. He spent the best years of his career watching football rather than playing. I assume he's around 29 to 30 now, and the result is he's never developed into the player he should have been.

These players need to be on the pitch playing football - look at how Bentley blossomed at Rovers just through playing every week. Now he's back at a "big" club, he's just part of a big squad again and his career has gone backwards.

Phil Jones should stay at Rovers and learn his trade - it's far too soon for him to move.

Depends on

1. Who is advising him/family (I hear he is with some good people)

2. What is the future for him at Ewood- management/players coming in

3. Do we trust Venky's when they say they want to build a club around young talent?

We'll soon find out...

Not really, in Rugby Union it is still the same 4/5 clubs at the top every season and the clubs with the smallest incomes are at the bottom.

Rugby League aint much different.

It must be sooo difficult to not be motivated by money though, Wright-Phillips must have been getting paid an unbelieveable amount of money.

same with Bentley, Santa Cruz.

All three found out the grass is not greener, funny enough it rarely is when they leave Blackburn.

Interestingly enough I came across the same comment by arsenal fans about their club too. the fact is that often, unless you are an exceptional player, you find a club that suits you for whatever reason - system, training, wife and kids like living there so family life is happier, the club is the right size for you, the expectations are challenging enough without being offputting, whatever- but of course when you do well there a bigger club thinks we could use him in our squad. then when you move it only takes one thing to be wrong and the form you had goes and it's very hard to get it back. That's why players leaving whatever club often struggle and sometimes never refind their best form. Doesn't stop them moving for money or whatever.

also if I was Bentley, Santa Cruz, Duff or Bellamy I would leave Blackburn, under the Walker trust we had no ambition, they had to take the chance.

At least the nutters Venkys want us to do more then survive and be a bore, I'm sure the players are happy about this even if we all miss hoffball Sam a little sometimes and long for a top manager.

but these players above were at their peak when they left, Jones is no where near his peak, he's best staying a while.
