So my wife and I are having our first child around the turn of the new year.

During the pre-planning stage of this great event, she had agreed to the name Jack Walker Hoffman if it were a boy. She's now backed out on that promise, saying Jack is too common and he'd sound like a brand of whiskey.

So I find myself in need of other Rovers themed names. Shefki Kuqi Hoffman has been rejected (rightfully so), as has, sadly, Robert Crompton Hoffman.

I've only been a supporter since 1999 so I'm ignorant of some of the great names of the past. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

--Chase

Congratulations DP!!

Welcome to Fatherhood and all that. I wouldn't get too hung up on Rovers names necessarily (sacrilege!).

Just come up with something you think works with your surname - although Dustin is probably one to avoid!!

The good thing with a two-syllable surname is that you can have a one, two or three syllable forename.

Good times. My youngest has turned 3 now. It absolutely flies by - enjoy!

At the end of the day, your wife/partner will end up with name she wants (it's true whatever you think!)

Just make sure you don't give the child a ridiculous made up name that people seem so fond of. Remember its a name for life so make sure it's one that will stand the test of time.

Jack would make a good middle name though.

Tebow Elway garner Hoffman

Abbey, I'm from Dallas. I couldn't name my kid after Broncos QBs... I'd be more likely to end up with Roger Staubach Hoffman or Troy Aikman Hoffman if I wanted to go that route!

Congratulations.

Tugay Hoffman has a nice ring to it...

Now there's a thought...

Congratulations, my first is due in 3 weeks.

Shes a Liverpool fan and hates rovers with a passion. Due to me spending a lot of money and time on it.

So we settled on Jenson instead. No middle name yet tho.

Best thing with that Scott is that you can 'accidentally' spell it wrong at the registrars to make it Jansen. Perfect!!

The wife had agreed to let me choose a rovers based middle name if we had a boy. We had a girl anyway so didn't have to make that decision in the end.

Difficult subject this and I wouldn't want to offend anyone. My advice would be to avoid using football or Rovers related names - if you must make it a second name.

I would also look to use traditional well established names. Kids are stuck with the name for 80-90 years. Classical names stand the test of time - Michael, Sara, Charlotte, James etc. How many 90 year olds will enjoy being Kylie???

They probably won't be bothered. Kylie will be an old person's name by then!

By 90, I'd take not being called "The Late ...."
