Kamy100
We can scrub Adebayor from the list. He has told Ivorian newspaper “The Patriot” that he wants to win trophies and said “it is clear that I will not (win trophies) at Zenit or Blackburn”. m0r94n
To an extent I feel he is right. Given the current media stance in regards to our club we do look a bit of a shambles. From his point of view we can aim to win trophies but the squad needs some work to get there. A lot of big names would likely play a waiting game in order to see who else we can bring in. We need to work our way up the ladder rather than aiming straight for the top. That being said, I do feel we can do better than Adebayor. He's a very good player but he has a tendency to go missing. pick32
Love the guy, quality striker and actually should be playing for a top team in europe. Don't blame him for turning us down after playing at Madrid last season we would be a huge step down.

Good he is a money grabber anyway – he believes his own hype too much too and I think his attitude would be a problem. @ £150k a week he Is seriously over paid too!! Glad we can’t make this one happen, he isn’t worth £80k a week, never mind £150k.
bluebruce
To an extent I feel he is right. Given the current media stance in regards to our club we do look a bit of a shambles. I don't care if he's right. It's disrespectful to both ourselves and Zenit to make a comment like that. There's just no need! You either don't mention us at all, or place your words more carefully (Like he did for PSG). I'm sick of footballers doing this, just flippantly making unnecessary negative remarks with no respect for the clubs they're talking about - usually clubs with far greater histories and a longer-lasting place in the game than they'll ever have. Nobody will remember who he was in 70 or 80 years, but we've already been around over 130 years, and may well still be around (maybe top flight still, though probably with some sleeping somewhere along the line) in another 130 years. budha
Zenit's won 7 different trophies (including two European) since 2007, so clearly Adebayor has no idea what he's talking about. Keep on waiting for the meringues to come calling..

It is disrespectful but at the same time, he wants to get to a point where in 70-80 years time people will remember him. At present he has no reason to come to Blackburn bar a few verbal promises. He is likely judging his opinion on a lack of knowledge and media reports, as most people in the world do with almost every subject. Zenit's won 7 different trophies (including two European) since 2007, so clearly Adebayor has no idea what he's talking about. Keep on waiting for the meringues to come calling.. Excellent point Agreed, but that is in regards to Zenit. With the exception of the European trophies it may just be that the Russian leagues do not interest him; either that or he doesn't want to be judged by the colour of his skin there. Our last major trophy came almost ten years ago and although we have been on several successful cup runs since, we are not judged in the present on the strength of how close we came. We need to give big name players (he has his critics but he gets goals) a reason to come here rather than just hoping they will.
joey_big_nose
Could well be the colour thing. Zenit have a famously racist support. My link
b12_simon
A shame. He's one of my favourite players after stamping on Robin van Persie's head then taking the wazz out of the Arsenal supporters fans clients.

Regardless of the knowledge behind - or acuity of - his point, it shows a severe lack of class for him to make that comment.

BlueMonday
Hard to swallow but we may have to get used to the rejection!. Yes, defo a pattern developing and its worrying. How far down the list do we have to go to start capturing signings. Jack recognised early on that despite having the budget, you need the right man to spend it. Not a dig at Steve Kean as I have stayed out of the mud slinging. I definately think we need to make a signing soon that sends out the right message to everyone. That we mean business. Backroom Tom Posted June 29, 2011 Backroom Share Posted June 29, 2011 You can hardly blame him for not wanting to come to Rovers no matter the manager, he has just spent most of the season at Real Madrid and is at the peak of his career, he could and should be somewhere bigger than here

The Rover of Finland
Adebayor knows where the net is but he seems like lazy too. He isn´t type of a player who creates goals he score. He would have been unhappy here in day two I bet. Seriously, I doubt Rovers were never too keen on him anyway.
