What do you think of the advert

  1. 1. What do you think of the advert? (Public Poll, people can see how you voted)

    • Loved It. More of the same please!
    • Mainly Positively. Fine for promoting us in India, but rather cringe-worthy over here
    • Don't care on way or the other
    • Mainly Negative. Regardless of what it does in India, I hate what it represents here!
    • Sheer and utter embarrassed. Everyone involved should be ashamed

I think the god awful team songs cause far more embarrassment than that ad ever will.

Alienation of muslims.... ffs

If they want to commit financial jihad on the team for a 30 second parody then who are the intolerant ones?

I don't subscribe to such papist mystic hand waiving but I hardly give a damn how much they do it.

Same muslims mind you, who pray at the alter of Ronaldo while he crosses himself more than an offended nun.

And here was I thinking BRFCS hysteria could not get any worse. Then the handbag brigade saw this avert and gave a girly skweeem

Dunny in his element! Bet he thought it was Christmas!

Even chicken dipped in blood doesn't put Dunny off. He's looking right at his payment (a crate of pies) as he bites

and another thing .... the crass religious symbolism will have alienated the market on our doorstep that we have supposedly been looking to exploit. But of course the KFCwannabess won't give a toss about that, the interests of BRFC are secondary to them.

It's an advert for chicken.

and can you blame her? why would any youngster associate themselves with anything that causies them embarassment. as i have already said the thing that BRFC had was local pride. this kind of thing does not help attract young supporters to our club no matter the opinions of grounded-adults. kids look to their peers and the peers will be sneering and laughing.

Actually upon further reflection you're right. Every young motor racing fan in Britain wants Jenson Button to crash his car after that shampoo advert, and Kevin Keegan's popularity fell down the well after that homoerotic Old Spice advert with Henry Cooper. Kids were lining the streets queueing to have their bubble perms cut off at the barbers. And Germany did not win the 2006 world cup because of the humiliation of a generation of schoolkids seeing Klinsmann and co. do a song for the 1994 world cup with the Village People. It mentally scarred many and turned them to a career of precision automotive engineering.

All your posts are saying is that your daughter is way too image concious and weak to stick up for herself and be alternative and you like running around like your hair is on fire and declaring that we're all doomed.

It is just a silly advert. Let the sneering twerps have their moment. They have nothing better to live for.

Well they're paying the players wages.

Keeping season ticket prices pretty low.

New players coming in. (Rochina, Gato, etc. More to come I hear)

Why are you sounding so hard done by?

You sound like a child. "But mum!! All my friends have got one! It's not fair :( "

What did the trust give us in the last few years that is so comparable to Venkys?

Eh? They are paying bugger all. The wages are paid for through the club's income.

Plus, the transfer fee for Jones will cover any transfer fees this summer. Where is Venky's own 5/10 million by the way?

They have given us nowt and they are being indulged for a @#/? advert.

Talksport have scored an own goal with having a dig like that. The advert is pretty tongue in cheek, and Talk Sport giving it grief like that really shows a total sense of humour bypass.

Pardon the pun but what a set of "cocks".

Chill out seriously, remember Kevin Keegan and Henry Cooper doing the brut advert, totally crap, I can't remember who did go to work on an egg one but that was also the pits, there have been sports men and women over the past 40 yrs doing silly adverts, take it with a pinch of salt, most of us have.

What are you actually complaining about?

Do you want us to go and spend £20m on people just because we can?

If we spent £16m you'd complain that it's just Jones transfer money and Venkys should of offered more?

It's THEIR club. They're paying the wages. They're keeping season ticket prices low. And they've brought in players (albeit not expensive ones).

And to top it all off, the transfer window isn't even closed yet and you're passing judgement.

I'm surprised you haven't suggested that they sold Jones just so they can pocket £16m and sell up

Do you complain just for the sake of making noise?

Ever wondered why you seem to be in the minority on this thread?

Just to add my two-cents on the advert itself. I'm a vegetarian so wouldn't be planning on buying any of Venky's stuff, but it is pretty funny and I'm not worried at all about what it would do to the clubs credibility. It's not like we're that popular a club nowadays anyway (pre-Venky's too) and I think it might well work on building an understanding and an interest in Rovers in Asia - so no harm done at all.

Venky's will be loving all of this free publicity and anyone with half a brain cell can see it's all a bit tongue in cheek from the lads anyway.

People are taking things way too seriously. At the end of the day, we should be concerned about what happens on the pitch and not a silly advert for our owners company that was shot when the players were back from their holidays.

Haha I have got used to the advert, just par for the course for the new Rovers. My point remains what is the club getting from this?

Were the Trust paying the wages? No, it was out of the clubs operating costs- ie television revenue. Same deal now.

If the club brings in £20million this summer in transfers and spends £5million, How exactly are Venky's funding anything?

Once again can you explain how BRFC are in a better place than under the Trust?

Would the people moaning prefer the advert to contain the players wearing cravats, smoking jackets, puffing away on a pipe whilst sitting in a rocking chair discussing the state of the current financial climate?

Get a frigging grip.

Mattyblue's posts have been hilarious. So many different emotions throughout the thread.

Who said we were?

It just appears we are at the moment.

Players being linked for once. HOPEFULLY players coming in.

And the Rovers brand being marketed in different countries.

What appears to be worse?

Really braddock?

The advert is a sad indicment of where we are as a club, unfortunately apart from giving up chicken not much I can do about it.

Secondly, Venky's are getting (chicken) bucketload of PR from Rovers and we are getting the honour of possibly spending SOME of the Hones money.

Is it possible that you are blinded by all of the other immense screw ups and see this far, far, worse than what it is?

Is it computer time at the asylum??

It's an advert, for Indian telly, by a big Indian company, using another one of their companies to promote, which in turn promotes Rovers in India.....

Where's the harm?

so many chilled ppl making way too much effort defending this tacky indictment of what BRFC has become under these clowns - proud club reduced to flogging takeaway chicken. what do BRFC get out of this? nowt except ridicule locally and nationally. i don't gove a toss about our profile in india, the rest of asia, south america or the bloody antartic! there is no money for BRFC in those markets. i live in blackburn lancashire and i don't really care to be indias premier club. i wnat us to be successful in england cos thats where we play bloody football. if i wanted us to be successful at selling takeaway chicken i'd be reseraching wok-related internet pages ffs!
