What do you think of the advert

  1. 1. What do you think of the advert? (Public Poll, people can see how you voted)

    • Loved It. More of the same please!
    • Mainly Positively. Fine for promoting us in India, but rather cringe-worthy over here
    • Don't care on way or the other
    • Mainly Negative. Regardless of what it does in India, I hate what it represents here!
    • Sheer and utter embarrassed. Everyone involved should be ashamed

I must be in the minority here - rovers got some publicity, Venkys some publicity and the players some publicity.

Good effort - do you think it will be shown more than the last 2 minutes of the MOTD in India?....... Yep!

Wheres the harm ..what planet are you on the same as the Raos ? BTW is the moon made of cheese ? We are a laugthing stock in thr national media , SSN and all over the net

Ha, You're as mental as Mattyblue and that guy ^^ who can't punctuate.

Are you living in a world where Rovers are the darlings of the media? When have rovers ever been wrote about in a good light?

Watch Jimmy Bullards shampoo advert, watch Keegans adverts. There's embarrassing. Yet amusing.

All you seem to be bothered about is some knob of journo's opinion on whether it's decent or not?

I really can't see why anyone should be surprised or upset by the advert. Ultimately we were bought by Venky's to become part of their marketing strategy. The football was of secondary importance to using the club to market their brand throughout the world. Venky's are simply using the club for the purposes for which they bought it - as a vehicle to enhance the Venky brand.

Maybe I'm old fashioned but I couldn't give a toss about 'brand awareness' in the Asian market.

These people have bungled one decision after another and deeply tarnished Rovers reputation as a club of integrity. So forgive me if I fail to hoot as loudly as others as Rovers shirts are used to flog chicken in India.

I know, surprised something like this took so long.

Eeeee 'I'm mental' because I'm not impressed with seeing my club pimped out to flog fried chicken.

Well something has gone mental somewhere these lat 9 months- must be me!

Would you of been this unimpressed if we'd have been in a flybe advert a few years back?

Something about you suggests no.

Mountain, mole hill, looney.

Just noticed your seat is in block 1 of the BBE....."Booooooooooo" ;)

Beat me to it! Doubt it would have been an issue if it had been a flybe ad!

Yep I'm a loony/mental/escaped from the asylum, any other ripostes?

From day one my view of the takeover was Venky's using Rovers to promote the product in return for improving the team on the pitch could be a workable model. Mutual benefits there, wouldn't you agree?

However, I am yet to see apart from publicity on a mass scale for Venky's what the club is getting in return? Spending some of the money gained from selling one of our main assets is not readdressing the balance.

'Wait and see' Fair point, however IN MY OPINION I do not believe we will spend anywhere near the money earned from player sales, plus the much vaunted Venky's 5/10 million AS PROMISED.

Now if the owners are going to continue the Trust model of the club being pretty much self-sustainable and selling to buy, then come out and say it and stop the bullshit.

Yet you're probably one of these people who quote Jack Walkers "Think Big" motto....

Just as an aside I wonder what the reaction would be if MacDonalds or KFC made an advert which feature Hindhu religious symbolism?

Would the response be it's for the European market?

I don't care but I do find it interesting.

More practically I trust the club will be receiving a fee for the players appearances?

I found the sign of the cross gesture offensive to be honest.

I'm with you. Can I ask why exactly do people have a problem with it? I'm no massive fan of Venkys but I'm struggling to see its negatives:

Is it a rubbish advert? - By UK standards its probably slightly below average, by most foreign standards (they have some god awful adverts) its probably quite good.

Does it publicise the club? - Yes, arguably more than it actually publicises Venkys or their chicken.

Would fans rather they sit on their backsides and give up spending any money on marketing us to India? - I'm assuming no.

So whats the problem? And please don't say embarassment at what other fans are saying. As if any Rovers fan should give a **** about what some @sshole Burnley/Bolton knuckle-draggers think. And you can bet your life their own clubs would advertise themselves like crazy to foreign markets given half a chance.

The micky taking by the Mirror/Mail/Talksport/Sky is no different than if they picked up a really badly acted advert by say if Manchester City's players did one for Etihad. People are having a little bit of fun at footballers taken out of their comfort zone and making tits of themselves, there is nothing sinister in the reporting or how people perceive Rovers. The negativeity is coming from our fsns purely on the basis that Venky's have so far let us down and have made some confusing and poor decisions but this is just a bit of fun to promote a product which is done by footballers all the time. The players look like they had fun doing it, its never going to be shown in the UK in the middle of Corrie, so whats the big deal. Im all for criticising Venky's when they mess up or fail to deliver but I can't see the harm in this.

Don't you see that the ad isn't promoting BRFC it is using BRFC as the comedy vehicle to promote KFCwannabees product ? I would say the adbvert demeans BRFC as comedic, certainly not a set of professional sportsmen! Do you think any of the players in the advert or the club themselves come out of this as marketable commodities in their own right?
