How rich from a man who i really thought had his head screwed on.

Has anyone read the Telegraph and Kevin's column to which he says that the fans who protested on Saturday should be embarrassed?

The fans who participated in the march all had the same idea of how it would go and regardless of the result wanted to air their frustration on what is going on with our club and to point out the fact that Steve Kean wasn't the manager for us.

Keans comments after the game cemented my thoughts that he is deluded in thinking that 1% of fans aren't happy with him where i think more than 50% would be a fair reflection. Also, having watched last nights game i was astounded to find Kean says that we should have scored more goals but for an awesome display by the goalkeeper when i can only think of 3 times which he made saves and none of them would have been too difficult to stop.

The main thing to come out of the protest for me was that it was left outside the ground and those who participated got behind the team inside and that's not to say we were impressed with what we saw but a wins a win. Also, another great thing to come out of the protest was the fact that the owners ACTUALLY turned up to watch the team they have invested in which only happened after they got wind of the protest and lastly for them to come out and invite some fans of this forum over to India to talk through their aspirations for the future which again wouldn't have happened if the fans didn't air their views.

God only knows why they couldn't do it over here but thats another matter.

Embarrassed Gallacher? I don't think so and i for one feel proud to have done the march as only positives have come out of it since. :rover:

Annoys me when players who deserted us stick their noses in. Gord you may be right the chicken gravy mind washing machine

Hang on whilst I stick that through Google Translate.

The protesters had the right to protest and made their point. Kevin Gallacher is employed to express his opinion and made his point. He will be another one who will be slagged off because he isnt down with the mob.

As for ex players who never seem to have a good word for us, none worse than Robbie Savage, a player I admired and a personality I quite liked. Not any more.

You're wrong there DGS. Football Focus last week he couldn't be more complimentary, saying how he was a 'Rovers fan' and so on.

As for Gallagher, he seems to like to provoke, said the Rovers/Burnley game wasn't a real derby t'other season.

Glad to here it Matty, we apparently get "FF" on BBC World down here but I cant sus out when it's on.

I have heard Savage say some quite dismissive and disrespectful stuff on podcasts recently.

Gally might have a point about the Dingles game. Remember he was brought up on the Old Firm Derby and since when did Burnley get involved in big matches?

If he thinks that our rivals and the team we hate most is not a real derby then he obviously doesn't know his football.

We hate Burnley, Burnley hate us and they are our closest rivals do saying when we play them is not a real derby then he's gone down in my estimations. :(

People take what ex-players/managers say in the media about Rovers way too seriously. Rovers4Good has it in for Gally because he criticised the protest, DGS had it in for Savage presumably because he thinks we'll go down under Kean, quite a few fans have it in for Shearer because they think he doesn't mention us enough on MOTD or whatever. Does it really matter?

Gallacher played for Rovers for 6 years, he's our 3rd top PL goalscorer (1 behind Sutton) and played for us when we were a top team. If he doesn't think much of the Rovers-Burnley derby then thats surely just a reflection on how Man Utd were our derby when he was here and how Burnley are rubbish. Taking such an insignificant, throwaway comment as a reason to lower your opinion of one of our best players of recent times is daft.

I hope for his sake Simon Garner never says in his LET column that he thinks Clayton Pies are ****, he'll seriously go down in my estimations.

Clap trap. :(

I don't have it in for Gally because he was against the march i have it in for Gally because he said the protesters should be embarrassed about their actions.

If you read my post you can see the reasons why i think the protest was a good thing to do in the circumstances.

There is no dispute what Gally brought to this club but his comments are way off the mark and something i thought even he could see needed to be aired.

Thier keep made several good stops - though I must admit many were at the right height to be saved. It is amazing you can only remember 3 saves - when we had 20 shots on target (according to BBC).

Another one who has gone over to the dark side. Sounds like Kevin might have 'enjoyed' a trip to Pune recently. Wonder if he went with Nicko?

I'm on the dark side too Theno, surprisingly I have not been to Pune but I expect a ticket in the post shortly.

OR maybe just maybe, Gallagher has an opinion on the matter different to yours, as does Nicko and a number of others, IMO pretty pathetic to make insinuations without ANY foundation or proof, but then again its easy to do that behind a computer isnt it?

You may not hold that opinion if you saw his Twitter comments following Rovers 4 Arsenal 3

I didnt Roost and I take your point along with Matty and Blue and White's.

He has said that we would go down this year and had a dig at Kean and Venkys. I dont have a problem with that but I do object to a former crowd favourite saying it in a dismissive disrespectful way. I have a feeling his comments were for the benefit of the company he was in (journos) which perhaps, makes it worse.

I cant remember his exact remarks but they were in a couple of BBC podcasts.

Savage was a big John Williams fan, 'best chairman in football, best run club there is'.

I have heard him state how he has feared for the club since the takeover. Now he may know nowt about what's going on behind the scenes, but fair play to him for still caring for the club.

Can we not learn to take ex player comments with a pinch of salt. Gallacher and Savage are both there to polarise opinions. They do exactly what the TalkSport DJ's do, they make a sweeping statement at one end of the spectrum and then let punters like us argue one way or the other. There is no mileage in Gallacher writing a middle of the road column as no one would take any notice of it. Just look at what he has achieved already, he has his own thread on here now!!ha!!

I loved hearing him say 'I am a Blackburn Rovers fan' when someone said 'how would you feel if you were a blackburn fan?' or words to that effect. I have a lot of time for Sav, he speaks fondly of his time at Rovers and I love hearing it.

Gallacher is entitled to his opinion but If fans feel strongly enough to protest then I dont think they embarrass anyone.

Gally might have a point about the Dingles game. Remember he was brought up on the Old Firm Derby and since when did Burnley get involved in big matches?

Rovers v Burnley is one of the oldest and fiercest rivalry's in English football.Anyone who does not know that does not know their football!

Gallacher certainly knows his football and has been immersed in the game since childhood.

Norwich and Ipswich fans will tell about the ferocity of their derby but I doubt that many outside East Anglia could care less. Same goes for ours.

One of the main reasons I stopped buying the Lancashire Telegraph was the weekly articles written by the likes of Gallagher. I noticed that Paul Fletcher has one too. They are just ex footballers eking a living with their inane pontifications, similar to the 'experts' we have to endure on most televised football programmes.

outside the Old Firm, who has any interest in any derby?

North London, Liverpool etc all seem pretty tame to me. Just because east Lancs isn't a high profile area doesn't mean that passions aren't roused at derby time.

And as someone that has lived in the area for years and has a lot of Rovers fans as pals, Gallagher knows very well

The ONLY part that really hurts me is NOT the comment that "the protesters should be embarrassed and are a disgrace to the club" That is his opinion to which he is entitled to it..But he tells people on how we should behave in society as club supporters should do there club prowd..TRUE.. BUT WHAT HURTS IS HIS OMISSION!! That he is trying to defend a drink driver!! If he also mentions that the club should be ashamed to have a drink driver as a role model, then fair comment to him but to take sides makes him look naive and a hypocrite..
