That's funny as it wasn't that long ago (a month or so) we told him he wouldn't be getting jack.

Glad he's signed as I wasn't happy when told he wasn't getting one.

Relegated clubs always look to their youth when they go down it's cheaper, so no shock to see Venky's go down that route.

Well that's up to 2.5 CB's for next season Hanley and Edwards with Dann making up the .5.

Maji,

You arent getting confused with Matty Pearson are you?

Was he offered another year as a YT? As opposed to a contract. Also split amongst the ranks (coaches) over whether he should get one?

Parson will be the man to ask but Pearson and Henley were streets ahead of anyone else in the ressies last year!

My understanding is that Pearson is one of a number of reserves who have been told that they are not going to be offered a new contract at the end of the season. I agree with Kelbo in that Pearson was the outstanding player in the Reserves in 2010-11 but, of course, he was pushed out by the arrival of Anderson. At the start of the season he was moved into midfield, which was never going to work, and ultimately has drifted out of the picture as it were.

Like Maj, I'd heard that there seemed to be a delay in offering our younger players contracts. I would have thought that Edwards and O'Connell would have been tied up long since as they have been the outstanding players in the Under-18's this season.

It's good that Edwards has signed but one hopes that Venky's are not going to simply put these young lads in too soon and ruin them. To ask them to step up from Under-18 football to Championship football would be a huge gamble.

Think we he will be fourth choice centre back.

All depend who is the manager. if we had someone like Mick McCarthy or Billy Davies then I sure he will be help with his development just like Big Sam did with Jones.

Four more of the current U18's have been given third year Scholar contracts on £250 per week. They would normally, if considered good enough be given pro contracts.

They have mates playing League Two and National Conference football on a lot more money.

And the man behind this decision - Kean.

In all fairness, no one should be getting a new contract until the season is over and we know what's going on with the club finances.

To be fair, ive never had anything positive to say about kean or venkys, just that until today whilst we were only 3 points adrift there was a chance of staying up, which was fact. Today was beyond spineless though and it is probably all over, yet if bolton & QPR get 0 points between now and Monday, we are in the same position again. Bloody football. Anyway, Edwards, hope for his sake kean isn't here next season.

To be fair this isn't just something Kean has done, it happened a fair few times before Kean was even in charge

Flicking through on a slow news time and saw this - isn't it being overly kind to Dann?
