That's the problem with so many of the Guaridan reading class 47er, you don't think the state knows best, you are a 'toff'

- Toynbee, Harman et al are from far richer backgrounds than a Lancashire Lad like me, yet they take this moral high ground.

Harman- St Paul's School for Girls

Osbourne- St Paul's School for Boys.

The problem with the lot of them is they've gone from school, to uni, to politics without sampling the real world.

Clearly they are not impartial on many issues and there are a few websites which point that out, and past presenters and Chief Execs have come out and admitted they have a left wing bias. The fact they spend 80% of their recruitment budget with the Guardian tells you all you need to know really about their desire to have a balanced staff working for them.

But if you want a good example of non-impartiality just look at their reporting on AGW (man made global warming),

how one sided the presentation of the issue is by the BBC.

You might not have noticed but the Guardian is one of the few national newspapers to have a dedicated media section. Seems to me to be a perfectly sensible place for adverts if you are looking for staff.

Oh right so if the BNP had a media section on their website the BBC should advertise there too? Besides, you said "one of the few" so if there are other papers with dedicated media sections why is 80% of the budget being spent with the Guardian?

Just like those "rich posh boys" (to quote a Tory MP) Cameron and Osborne - you know those multi-millionaires who insist "we are all in this together" yet continue to slash the jobs and wages of the poorest yet give tax handouts to the wealthiest.

Lancashire folk voting Tory is a pefct example of turkeys voting for Christmas.

Its Cameron who's the real toff Matty. Eton/Oxford then run the country! doesn't know a pasty from a donut.

Good on Harriet Harman--despite a fortunate background she fights for ordinary people. Osbourne and Cameron have abandoned them.

I'm not sure if the Times still has a media section - it used to. The Beeb and News Corp have been at loggerheads for years so I'm not suprised the Beeb do

not advertise with them. News Corp has been trying for years to destroy the BBC.

The removal of the 10p tax band really helped the poor people.

I agree with post overall Matty but it does annoy me when people say the bit in bold because I don't know what it's supposed to mean. It just seems to be one of those vague statements people use to put down people who are more succesful than them. Where is this 'real world' and how does one 'experience it', is it working down a coal mine for a few years because I think that's what most people mean when they say it.

I would suspect even the toffiest toff would have some kind of part time job or vocation whilst at Uni, in fact I'd suspect you'd struggle to become an MP if you had no experience of anything at all.

Also, it's just as true that someone who has worked in the 'real world' (i.e a Unions working class type) would have no experience or knowledge of how big business or finance work and thus are just as unsuitable to run the country.

Christ.

She's the quintessential 'socialist' hypocrite.

Is she the one who crashed her car while using a mobile and said "do you know who I am?" and then fled the scene?

Eric Joyce had sampled the real world hadn't he?

Worked out well...

And the reduction of the 50p tax band gave those earning £1m plus an instant £50,000 a year pay rise. And those lovely bankers earning £4m and who are responsible for ruining this country's finances are £200,000 a year better off.

Tories do not know the meaning of the word fairness.

News Corp has been trying for years to destroy the BBC.

Sony tried to destroy Nintendo for years.

Ford tried to destroy Rover for years.

Wispa tried to destroy Aero for years.

It's called competition.

And how many times did I hear that Rupert Murdoch wasn't a "fit and proper person" to be running a media organisation on the BBC yesterday. I've no doubt Murdoch and used his papers and sleeze in the past the belittle the BBC, but I'm not sure he's ever called for it to be outright banned from practising in the UK as the BBC seem to be doing daily at the moment.

The BBC are effectivly calling for News Corp to be shut down in the UK, if that's not a direct attenpt to destro someone's business I don't know what it.

Only second to Polly 'two villas' Toynbee.

Pity Labour didn't regulate the banks when they had the chance, but they seemed more interested in bankrupting the country instead and spending money they didn't have.

They're all out of touch, non of them has ever had a proper job, I'm no Tory but these Labour supporters sat on high horses need to climb down.

Just to confirm what has already been said.

There was no 'attack.' The chap wandered into the un-locked car park, said he had written to various people in the FA and at Ewood with no reply. He said he wanted to speak with Steve Kean. This was denied.

He was escorted to the gate by Steve's bodyguard, where they chatted for the better part of an hour. He left his name and contact details with Steve's BG, and quietly went on his way.

The story DID NOT come from any part of BRFC's PR dept, officially or unofficially. Most likely it was 'leaked' by one of the cafeteria staff at the training grounds or one of the taxi drivers who bring staff to and from the grounds.

Where did you get 50k from? You do know that tax bands are only paid on the amount you earn over them and not on you whole wage don't you? People who pay the 50% rate (or 40p rate for that matter) only do so on anything they earn over the limit which in the now 45p rate case is £150k not on their entire wage.

So actually someone on £1m (which is pretty rare nationally) would be 'saving' closer to £40k (5% of 850k). Whilst that is still a decent figure, that fact you think that the 50p rate applied to someone's entire wage shows how ignorant you are of the facts.

You are also ignoring that higher tax rates have been treid in the past and were found to bring in less money, not more.

Thanks for bringing it back on topic

Let's keep it that way, any more off topic posts will be removed

Why not just lock this thread anyway, paper made a claim which wasn't true and has now been denied. What else is there to discuss?

The BBC is publicly funded broadcaster respected around the world. News Corp is a ravenous global corporate beast with dubious moral ethics that for years has been influencing the political elite - which would you prefer as the country's main news organisation ?

The Murdoch were judged not to be "fit and proper" by the Commons select committe - do you expect the BBc to report the news by ignoring it ?

Pleae enlighten me on how the Beeb is trying to "shut down News Corp". However desirable that may be I think you're wrong.
