A lot of things have to change ES, give me something to believe in and trust would be good. As I alluded to, I don't want to have to pay to be turned into Randle McMurphy in order to enjoy it.

To be honest I do feel sorry for those fans who can't get to any away games. If my only experience of Rovers this season had been at Ewood it would probably have driven me to popping happy pills ;-)

Ha! Just Leeds, Blackpool and Boro in all fairness. 1664 does help at Ewood!

According to 'Soccernomics' by far the best predictor of success is (absolutely not transfer fees paid) but wages. And the average Prem player is on about £20k per week while average Championship on £4-5k. Sky (our satellite and cable subs) pay for most all of this difference. But the difference in quality IS huge.

You're a condescending prick ES.

Can someone please go into detail with the players throwing their shirts into the crowd etc etc.

The players took off their shirts (only exception I noticed was Rhodes) and gave them to fans. None were thrown that I saw. Some players had long sleeve vests underneath, some didn't. That enough detail?

Absolutely 100% correct. Only Jordan Rhodes din't give his shirt away.

For anybody who actually went today did they notice the tactics at our corners? I have always said that we don't make enough of set plays, particularly corners but today we had both centre halves really attacking the ball but Hanley's starting position was really interesting. He took up a position outside the goal area on the opposite side to the corner. His movement began as soon as the ball was delivered and one of these nearly yielded a goal. Dann was on the edge of the penalty area attacking the ball. The movement of both made it quite difficult for their markers.

Gary Bowyer must have set this up on Friday and it was good to see something different rather than the mundane, easy to defend against corners we have seen for far too long.

Hear hear, I've always said the same, there's just no movement on corners they're all too static.

Not that it matters much mind when 90% of our corners don't beat the first man.

No !

Keeping everything in perspective before the juveniles run wild with emotion after a victory over a far less talented team. Remember Peterborough away and the over reaction then.

You seem to hate younger folk (paying reference to the above comment and the snipe at Chaddy). Grow up.

Whilst I appreciate your points about one win meaning nothing against a weak opposition, to go about it with such a juvenile attitude yourself with all this "I am older, I know best" tripe, you do yourself no favours.

There are likely many "youngsters" on this board with more football knowledge and more intelligence than many of the older heads on here but funnily enough they are too mature to go shouting about it.

Thanks for that Arbitro, I'm not knocking you but centre halves were starting from that position to attack corners when Mike England was playing for us ( 1960's for the youngsters ). Why has it taken so long to get this basic tactic right ?

Paul, do you have a comeback on what thenodrog said, because it seems like fair enough to me. What's your problem with the picture. Are you saying you wouldn't?

Well I'm married... You have to remember tdrog is trying to annoy me by calling me names and so on. It's been going on for years. As for the substantive issue, I think that parading an image of a young woman of that type is sexist, and tells you a lot about what young, and not so young men, think is 'normal'. It's also about context: if Topman wants to look at nude women, porn, or whatever, I understand that, but just not here on a website designed for all ages and genders, to discuss football.

That was Englands trademark, diagonal run from the edge of the box, scored lots of goals too!!

Not good enough !

Ok against a weak team in Barnsley, but the stats of 56% possession against 44% for us with them having more shots at goal than us suggests that their quality up front was seriously lacking.

Today we beat another relegation threatened team, tomorrow though could be a totally different matter.

I was always taught, its 11 v 11 - whatever the opposition, you have to impose yourselves on the game, defend well and score goals to win the game, the same can be said of Barnsley, who's form over the last four games was better than ours, our form was probably the worst in the league, maybe except Wolves.

Barnsley really expected somethingout of the game after the turmoil at Rovers and our form up to yeaterday - so much so, it cost Hill his job despite having the smallest squad in the league and no money for players!

I've a feeling that Paul Melleieu might like a few close up shots of those............ ;)

Bit like that theory about the moon landing being shot in Arizona........ does Brockhall actually exist? If so does anybody hold coaching badges down there? I must say after watching our play from set pieces I've wondered about this for years.

The point I was making is that we have been too predictable and easy to defend against. Good well coached teams quite often use variation in their play. It was good to see something different.

Doesn't it make you stop and think that you are a still small voice on here and EVERYBODY else is taking the p1ss out of you?

btw Do I constantly scream "RACIST" toward you? You really are an odd fecker.

Great banter.

Good win yesterday, and goes to show that if this team plays to its strengths, it should be able to handle/ beat most in this division. And whilst I'm aware that people are going to point out Barnsley's league position, any one of about 14-16 clubs could be between very bottom and the top half, and some of the opposition we were losing to under Berg aren't much better than that lot.

I find it a bit cringey that someone might want to put a pair of tits as their avatar. Screams of insecurity IMO. PM is entitled to his opinion, and whilst I can't be bothered to dignify the actions of Topman enough to rattle on about it, for the most part I agree with PM.

As for "odd fecker," you've spent your life on this website, with your sad little signatures and "oh so controversial posts." I think boring, self-indulgent, predictable, and frankly "odd" could very easily be labels applied to yourself.

Suprise is a potent weapon in football. I rem in the 80's we played corners to a big lad on the near post for a flick on. Very difficult to mark against too but the last time I saw anybody do that was yonks ago. We overplayed it back then but there is no problem with us occasionally interspersing that option in our corner kick routines now.

Chris Samba was a massive lad but not a good, natural header of a ball andnot a good 'jumper' either and I often thought the best position for Samba at corners was slap bang in front of the opposing keeper (and especially when MGP was flighting them in from the right to block the keepers line of sight but that was never practised either.

Another 'basic' is that two players (a left and a right footer) should always be stood over the ball for a free kick withing striking distance to influence a keeper when setting up a wall and force him to stand nearer the middle of the goals.

Basic basic stuff but something that doesn't appear to figure in current coaching.

What a great day out.

We got the 9.17 rattler and were told we were the first Rovers to arrive in Barnsley, went to the Metrodome which was completely dead, an hour later quite the opposite though!

Shebby can be in no doubt now that we absolutely hate him. At half time at the bar we clocked his car outside, attempted to get to it and wait for him afterwards but the police were having none of it.

BRFc seems deeply divided at the moment so by that statement can we assume that your support at the club lines up behind Agnew and Shaw? If so who is influencing you?
