I remember watching the trial updates every day Andy and seeing what those horrible little t***s did subsequent documentaries left a profound impression on me about intolerance and hate. I recall Mrs Lancaster saying she thought they did it because they were jealous as Sophie and her boyfriend were different, not the cloned, tracksuited, baseball cap wearing her killers were.

The level of violence was absolutely shocking. Every time I see any goths in and around Glasgow I always think about that poor girl and her family.

Ray Liotta 67 - Goodfellas fame has died in his sleep, he played real life gangster Henry Hill in the film and what a film.

Sad to hear that Gav. I watched Blow again recently and he was excellent in that too but his finest hour was Henry Hill in the terrific Goodfellas.

One of my favourite scenes.

Andy Gorman has died of cancer, I read recently that he’d refused treatment.

Great keeper for Rangers and Scotland, good cricketer too.

RIP Andy.

He ignored symptoms for too long, sadly. I played cricket and football with and against Andy as a youth. RIP

“ Prostate “ or “ bowel “ ?

By the time he was diagnosed he was riddled with it unfortunately. He was a tough cookie, he turned up at a charity dinner in a wheelchair just a few days ago.

I subsequently read it was in his  oesophagus.

My cousin, who was a real Blackburn lad but played only rugby union unfortunately, died of the same thing in his early forties. He’d been quite a heavy smoker in his youth.

The landlord of a pub I was a regular in also had oesophagal cancer. He’d worked for years in a bookies as well as being a smoker.

Apparently sustained heavy drinking over a number of years can also cause it.

James Caan has died aged 82, most will remember him playing Sonny in The Godfather, but also played a kidnapped writer in Misery.

He hated acting on Elf and just did it for a payday. Then just before his brilliant (heartbreaking as a kid, obviously) scene shouting at Will Ferrell, the director reminded him: 'You're Sonny fucking Corleone. Act like it.'

RIP James Caan.

Tony Sirico, best known for playing Paulie in The Sopranos has died today.

Him and Silvio were my favourites from that show and there were many candidates!

R.I.P.

Brilliant character, he was in numerous mob films too including The Godfather.

He was associated with the Columbo crime family in his young days under Carmine ‘The Snake’ Persico.

RIP

Ha no, that was an actual true Mob story from ‘The Irishman’ film. Frank Sheehan was a hitman who would be hired with that code phrase - I.e paint with blood.

The ‘Pine Barrens’ Sopranos episode was just a classic hour of comedy/drama as Chris and Paulie got the wrong end of the stick over a guy they were supposed to just collect some cash from and everything quickly goes wrong in the woods, just hilarious bit of TV.

Loved the film, great to see those actors and director back one more time, but the story was way off the mark.

Its widely agreed Frank Sheehan was not involved in the killing of Hoffa, this film was more than just creative license from Scorsese, it was made up, based on the book, but I'm still glad he made the film.
