Hoochie Bloochie Mama 3982
Covid vaccine: UK doctors criticise rescheduling of second doses | Society | The Guardian ''Recipients of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine had previously been told there would be a three-week gap between doses, with many already booked in for their second jab...but second doses of the newly approved Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine and the previously approved Pfizer/BioNTech jab would now be given up to 12 weeks after the first dose.' Didn't take long for the goalposts to move. Covid-19 second-stage vaccinations to be delayed across UK | World news | The Guardian Dr Julia Patterson, the lead for EveryDoctor, a network of grassroots medics, said: “This sudden change of plan from the government will heap enormous pressure on the NHS staff delivering vaccines, and will also cause anxiety for vulnerable people who have had a first dose of vaccine and now face uncertainty about when they will receive their second dose" Edited December 31, 2020 by Hoochie Bloochie Mama

I think it should be people in the NHS, Teachers, Bus Drivers etc etc first as they're the most vulnerable and we need them to avoid the whole shebang falling over. Us old timers can wait a bit longer.

He’s right isn’t he! I was telling my wife that yesterday. She's got her family trait of thinking they're going to live for ever. Her dad went into hospital in Granada for open heart surgery at the age of 84. They told him his chances were 60/40 of success. He didn't bother to leave a will ! It took us three years to sort out his affairs in three countries. She's quite thoughtless about this, she was still picking up the grand daughter from primary school before Xmas. What she can't see is that before too long there won't be enough beds and nurses to go around and decisions will have to be made as to who gets treatment and who doesn't. We are likely to fall into the " put them outside " category.

Gav 8850
Lots of talk on the news and in the media because London hospitals are full, I feel sorry for everyone involved, it’s an awful situation and don’t downplay the seriousness of the current plight. Every winter A&E departments North of Watford are treating patients in ambulances, in corridors, someone close to me got her cancer diagnosis sat in a corridor at 3am having sat in A&E for 6hrs, just a terrible situation in this day and age. You have to hope that moving forward, after Covid, this government will fund the NHS properly, build more capacity and give this country a health service that can cope with the demands placed upon it. Trouble is that Conservatives in Government believe the NHS isn't fit for purpose and are determined to prove it through defunding. This is THEIR version of 'exploiting a good crisis'. Fortunately I do think the vast majority of voters see through that and see the value of universal healthcare. Then again, anti-vax keeps growing and other bullshit, so maybe I should be more worried.

They've had 9 months to plan for a winter surge, it's not as if they've not known it was coming and what have they done ? Fantastic schemes like Eat out and Spread the Virus, half hearted, delayed lockdowns and a Test and Trace system that even after all the money spaffed on it is not fit for purpose. Hoochie Bloochie Mama 3982
NHS staff face burnout as Covid hospital admissions continue to rise | World news | The Guardian Hopefully nobody was ignorant enough to socialise outside of their bubble last night. Also, on the Nightingales:- The Royal College of Nursing’s England director, Mike Adams, said staff leave was being cancelled to deal with the surge in demand. Adams told Sky News the expectation of a mass rollout in capacity through the Nightingale hospitals was misplaced. Adams said: “If we are having to cancel leave to staff these areas, the obvious question is: where will the staff come from to open the Nightingales?
den 6925
I would like to correct something I posted yesterday regarding the situation in the royal preston hospital. The ICU is full. They are now having to clear as quickly as they can, non-covid wards to make into extra covid wards.

jim mk2 8244
Captain Calamity and Alan Partridge clone Gavin Williamson presiding over another government U-turn disaster with all schools set to be shut owing to the rampant new phase of the virus.
