JHRover 11607
I still can't get round Mowbray's comments yesterday. So inconsistent with the message from earlier this window. After the Ayala deal the word was we were looking to swiftly move on to the next position, widely believed to be LB, with hopes and expectations being that a prime target would be in the building very soon. The suggestion was that we were working through a list of priorities and hoped they would fall like dominoes. A couple of days later Mowbray is suggesting that LB isn't a focus of his attention, and that there remains a question as to whether he uses the remaining cash on one permanent signing or spreads around loans. That isn't consistent with what was being said last week. I hope and pray he is playing media games here because if we are down to having to ignore positions given limited cash we are going to struggle. Loans aren't the answer and I hope that they aren't priming us for a wait until early October when we do a late dash for a couple of loans

That or hes pissed that the Manning deal has got out and is throwing everyone off the scent. ( Doesnt want QPR coming back asking for more money or Manning/agent.) I suppose the easiet thing is to say we have no money to buy anyone - clubs dont try and drive up prices.

bigbrandjohn 458
Hmm. A few things going on there. 1 can’t build a Football club with loan players? 2 Young players can’t sustain consistency ? 3 anything can You tell me about Ryan Manning. No. He is a name you have thrown out at me. ? We are not going to spend all our money on Ryan Manning. ? 4 we’ve got no money. ? I know to the penny how much we have got to spend ? JPTSwindon 137
TBH I am relaxed if we don’t see much more movement. Club revenue is going through the floor, so I’d rather we weren’t overstretched as some clubs are going to struggle to carry - let it not be us.

Just desperately need a competent LB. You wouldn't have to break the bank for one.
simongarnerisgod 1625
there must be a free transfer out there that is better than bell, surely he would`nt take much hunting down, the lack of a competent left back will bite us on the **** at some time

The end of that interview seems to suggest we won’t be bringing in a new left back. Which is very worrying. It is simply unforgivable if we don’t bring someone in there. It will cost us massively. Looking at Mowbray's comments to Andy Bayes, one minute he says he got no money then saying we got for one permanent signing or 2 loan signings and then he says he knows to the penny how much we got to spend. So very confusing to be honest. when asked about Manning he says he like the player and we were believed to be close to signing on Friday given what has been said on here and twitter so what happen to this signing. Did the selling club pull the transfer or did the asking price change, Player fail the medical or personal terms change. We will see in the coming days and weeks. We cannot sell Armstrong for any price as he is key player in us being able to get promotion or not in my Opinion Edited September 20, 2020 by chaddyrovers
roversfan99 8234
I think unless he was lying, the goalposts have been moved in Thursdays meeting. He definitely sounded frustrated, we went from being close to a signing which was the first of "3 or 4" that he aimed to buy to only being able to afford 1.

Two adaptations of the Chapman song: There’s a star man, playing on the wing, he came from Preston North End and he didn’t cost a thing There’s a star man, playing on the right, his name is Tyrhys Dolan and he thinks North End are shite. Or preparing the fan base for the sale of one of our star players. Other alternative is that it is a message to other clubs, agents and players to be more realistic.
