VAR has just found a new low.

There will be no more goals ever if they are going to take into account any infringement that the referee didn’t give in the build up.

Yup. I hope they are going to be consistent. There's some kind of foul during every single corner these days.

The goals ruled out should be superceded by the penalty count.

Dislike VAR more and more every game to the point I struggle to carry on watching. Seems every goal is subject to VAR checks now.

even if it's the right decision, disallowing a goal after letting players and fans celebrate for a minute just feels wrong.

Like in rugby union this’ll turn into the question is there any reason whatsoever we can disallow the England goal. Happy to go back half an hour if necessary. Opposition won’t get checked.

If that was a foul then England should have been awarded a penalty. Very very easy to manipulate matches.

And even if it ends up being given it will become ‘meh’.

The only way VAR can survive is if players are 100% fair and squeaky clean but even then some players will work out when you can and can’t get away with one.

There should be 20 Seconds post VAR review goal celebrations allowed when goals are finally awarded.

Though any celebrations shouldn't spill over into the opposition's half.

There will soon be 30 seconds after every goal for vigorous VAR checks to be carried out in the six or seven passes in the build up.

Just enough time for three, maybe four, adverts to be shown while we wait.

51st state indeed.

I can hardly believe it's been 25 years since USA 94.

Where I recall that 'splitting the game into quarters' and 'making the goals bigger' were on the table requests in the competition's run up.

Thinking about it, what used to be strikers diving to try to fool the referee will now be defenders learning to dive as soon as they feel contact in order to fool the slow motion replay.

Football is a contact sport but on replay contact is looked for to disallow a goal.

Was it a foul - Yes. Shock horror players will have to learn not to cheat.

Watch again. The player falls in a heap vertically when he should have been pulled forward. Any contact will now be seized upon.

You’d have had to disallow Alli’s header just now had it gone in because his arms were across the defender as he jumped.

Croatia's equalizer in last summer's world cup semi-final should never have been allowed.

Foot up, dangerous play. End of. England players are going to have to wise up to VAR pretty quick. Back then, Walker (yes the useless one) should have at least headed the defenders foot then rolled around on the floor holding his head.

Right team won that one.

Southgate got it spot on by giving new players a go at taking a penalty in a competitive game. Some pressure but not a huge prize at stake. There’s something very methodical about his approach and you get the impression that he is learning and teaching all the time.

A decent end to the football season.
