at 21 he should be a first team regular if all the hype about him is true,i don`t see the natural ability or anything that stands out that he`s a professional footballer tbh,for all his so called prom

I must be the only one who thinks Buckley is a very good footballer. I would hate to lose him to another club unless it's on loan. Him and JRC I want at Rovers for a long, long time.

I still think that its a major oversimplification to suggest that Buckley merely needs to toughen up. He is particularly slight but many slightly built players thrive and impact games. I am still to b

Why ? If he is good enough, he will make it. If he isn't good enough, he won't make it. It has always been the same. If a player is not good enough for Blackburn Rovers shift him on. I am sick of watching sub standard players who may or may not develop.

Same things were said about Brereton and to a lesser extent Armstrong when he first arrived.Players need time to develop.

It was an odd reply to my post.

If you want your team to be successful, players must be ready to play immediately. There is no time to develop in a successful team.

Might aswell get rid of the academy so?

We don't have millions to spend to go out and buy success. We have to develop, like most clubs at this level.

No, that is the point of the academy, the so called developing players are in the academy, if they are not good enough to effect the first team by a certain age then get rid. If you don't work on this principal, what you end up with, is loads of average players going nowhere. This is fine if that is what you want to produce. It is no good for a successful team. This is my view only, no need to state that you disagree as I have already come to that conclusion .

Not sure how there's so much debate about the guy! He is clearly very talented (ok that's imo) and clearly there are huge question marks as to whether he will fulfil that potential for a myriad of reasons (also an imo). Whilst some of those question marks are to do with him - such as his size and mental fortitude - there's also huge questions over how TM uses him.

Everything after the first sentence there seems a near-perfect explanation of 'how there's so much debate about the guy'. Did you do that on purpose?

Personally I feel that, on current first team evidence, Buckley's technical ability is enormous...ly overstated. He's decent technically and plays some lovely passes at times, but not to a degree or frequency that remotely makes me think 'my, this kid is special'. And that's completely independent of his shortcomings, which for now are too many.

As with all our players, I hope he comes along brilliantly. But he will have to play a lot better than he has to impress me, and I don't ever want to see him at RB again. Trundling him out there made me switch from 'Mowbray should go' to 'Mowbray must go'. It was a camel's-back-breaking moment for me. He has precisely none of the qualities needed for that position. That's not his fault of course, but the manager's.

Buckley needs to play in his proper position, and regularly, and needs to toughen up. Definitely be sending him on loan to League One personally. We are ruining any talent he does have with this piecemeal part in a league he isn't cut out to compete regularly in yet.

He is trying, bless him, I'm surprised how many fouls he is giving away given his build, although that mostly suggests he can't tackle properly (not the be all and end all for his role of course). And I'm not ruling him out, worse-performing players have developed into decent or good ones. But I don't see what the fuss is about, yet.

Tony should ring his old mate Daz Moore...there's a slot in centre midfield over there....😄😄😄 I'd wager Moore would be like....feck off!

Stefan Mols has just come back from Spain. He couldn't get a game in the 4th tier and now Covid has put an end to his chances. I remember you were saying he was better than Buckley so I definitely trust your judgement when it comes to footballers. You know your onions.

I haven't seen much of Mols. Is he better than Buckley in peoples opinions ?

What position does Mols play? Centre mid?

He was always central midfield from.being young.  One that breaks through and attacks....

Might be able to play left back😙. He will get club in L1 or L2 play and have a career. Sometimes you have to drop down to get some game time...all about opinions.

But to say Buckley is in a different league means that you haven't watched both. Deserves a chance at least, especially as all our starters are off at the end of the season

You should know.  Mols played for Hyndburn and Ribble Valley District.  Good player who will have a career.

Mild was only loaned to an overspending franchise team not sure we can read much into that spell in Spain. Needs a loan this mo th

You say Mols may have to drop a league or two to get a career. Then say he deserves a chance with us. Which is it ? I hope it is not both.

Seems they don't want to give him a chance, we have loads of midfielders....my advice to him would be to sign for Accy...he's from the area.

My opinion is if we put him in Buckley's exalted position (god knows what hes done to warrant a place in the squad) we would see better contributions and eventually a first team player....Buckley. never.

From the answers given to the who is the best ,question. It would seem there is little difference in potential between Buckley and Mols. Neither seem to be good enough for a successful Blackburn Rovers first team.

That's a fair comment.  Surely we should give him a chance. Just seems odd to have a lad in from age 12 or something and captains the 23s for ages and never even makes the 1st team squad, not even for league cup games.....

I tell you he's definitely no worse then JB.

All a bit strange.

Hardly unusual at a football club. The majority of U23's won't make a career out of playing, captain or not.
